They say that a person becomes forgetful only once he reached the very old age. Is it true? I am only 25 but I can say that I am a forgetful person. My occupation is teaching and we know that teaching is not an easy job. Because of so many paperworks, I forget some stuffs. As of now, we are through with the computation of grades for students and now what keeps me busy is the preparation for exams. I brought all my books to the school yesterday and when I go home, I forgot to get the book that I put on our faculty room.I was so upset because I cannot start to make an exam for those stuff. Anyways, I am still thankful that I did not brought all the books yesterday on our school. I can still do an exam on other subjects.
How about you? Did you forget some stuffs also especially those important stuffs? What must I do to avoid being a forgetful? Can anyone give me suggestion? Thanks and happy mylotting to all.

Hi annierose.
I am forgetful myself!!! Sometimes i even forget people's names.
I can suggest that you write a list so that you can be more organized. Our mind can only handle as much. We can really be defocused at times and it is normal. And i understand your frustration when you forgot one of your books. I also get angry at myself for forgetting some stuff that i am supposed to bring. But don't panic about being forgetful... it is normal.
By the way, you are a teacher... dont you have trouble forgetting your students names?

hahahahha..thanks for the response. Yes, sometimes,I forgot my student names and sometimes instead of calling their real names, I say the names of their classmates .. this really creates confusion to the students whether he is the one I am calling of or his classmate.lol!
Thanks for a wonderful suggestion

Annierose! i have a nice suggestion for the names of your students! Why wont you try asking for their 1x1 ID pictures and paste it on based on their seating arrangements! That way, you will remember your students for a lifetime as much as they'll remember you!
I have a college professor and does that and it makes him really happy looking back! y

hi...it isn't true that a person become forgetful only once he reached the very old age. look at me, i'm also a forgetful person. i always forget where i put my stuff, and took time to find it...i think, there nothing much i can do to cure or to avoid being a forgetful. do you think it is a kind of illness? i don't know for sure. i think to avoid being a forgetful is to manage and organize everything,..if you can make it, you always remember something and not a forgetful anymore. happy mylotting.....

hello workoutfreak...
welcome to the world of forgetful people. It is normal my friend, so let us not panic.. I think that the right term for us is that we just loose our focus. I would believe that we have so many things in mind and we just get rattled from time to time. and you are right, i think that the answer for this is organization.
Forgetfulness can really be frustrating, dont you think?

I too is becoming forgetful nowadays. Age is not only the basis. It also depends on what food we are eating.
Like me, I always eat junk foods and other foods that are unhealthy. So that's why, I often forget things. What I can recommend is eat healthy foods. Avoid eating pork. :) And one more thing, write down things that you think you should not forget or you thini is very important.

i also am forgetful at times i really don't remember things from my past like my childhood days.there were times that i'm too busy doing household chores and because of too business sometimes i don't remember were i put my cellphone because there's someone i have to text or call.things that normally happen, but i'm only 27 and i guess that's too young for forgetfulness.i feel anger at myself sometimes by being forgetful.sometimes important things i really do forget makes me feel irritable.
you've said you're a teacher.and still you manage to log into mylot and write so many things, that's so amazing!being a teacher is hard i guess.both of my parents were both teachers and also still manages to do some tailoring here in our house.
well,i kinda see your blog and there's a photo in it.may i know who are you in that pic?

From time to time I think we all have problems with forgetting things. Many times I find things go better when I take time to make lists so I can remember what I need to do, etc. But personally I think the best thing to do is just find ways to keep your Brain active in remembering things, and Good things will come from there.

yeah.. i forget lots of educational stuff.. it is a big headache during an eaxam.. the solution for me to remember educational stuff is to memorizing same thing again and again or study slowly.... slowly in the sense i take more than one hour to study a page or important paragraph.. i knw it is time consuming.. but cant help..

im a forgetful person.even more forgetful thank u imagine.sometimes i forget the topic i talk about with my wife while go shopping on the street.this happened several times and always made her very angry.i do love my wife and want to keep up with her.life is a competion for a man.u just can't help thinking another topics such as how to make ur boss happy, how to make extra money, how to save some money to pay off the bills.as far as i know, some people do have good memory even at their old age.i can remember something fast and for a long time.the problem for me is that sometimes it is really hard for me to concentrate on them.this is my personal experience.
annierose,as a teacher, u always have a tight schedule.from my point of view a good routine and enough sleep helps.sometimes u really need relaxation to relieve pressure.if it happens at the certain time, maybe it is the singal from ur body.just hang out with ur friends and have fun.this will make ur job easier efficent.anyway i will bless u here .

It's funny cause I've always believed that I have a very good memory. but recently I noticed that I have been very forgetful and I don't really know why. There were certain very recent things that I could not even remember. There were even those that had just happened and suddenly I couldn't recall. I have been starting to feel that I may have a selective memory (if there is such thing hehe) because there are very very old stuff that I could remember very clearly which are not really worth remembering but then there are also very recent important stuff that I always fail to remember.I hope I do not have anything serious though.

I am a very forgetful person. I work in a retail store and when I see that something needs to be stocked I go back to the storage area to get it and when I get there I forget what I am there to get. That happens alot with me. I wish that I had a better memory. To help with your forgetfulness you might write things down that you need to remember and then cross them of when you do them. Thats what I have to do and it helps

I am very forgetful too. I was talking to my mother about it and she thinks that my problem may be the medications that I take. She says some of the diabetes medicine and high blood pressure medicine can cause forgetfulness. Are you taking any medicines that might do that too? Sometimes I forget what I was doing from one end of the house to the other end. It is frustrating. One of the things that I do is make my self notes of what I want to do. It helps some. I don't know if it really works but I have heard that certain foods help your memory. Here is one website that might have info. for you. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/18264218/ns/today_health/

Yes I do tend to be forgetful. When I get up from my chair or I leave to go somewhere I'll look around to make sure I have not left something sitting there that I should have taken with me or might need later.
The best thing I can suggest is to make lists lots of lists and refer to them often, just remember to take the list with you.

Hi annierose. Being forgetful I think is inevitable. I am on my early 40s and yes I have to admit that I am already becoming forgetful of a lot of things. I do help myself in my own little way. Every thing that I need to do, I have to schedule it by writing it down on my notebook. It keeps me track of what I should do.
