Which Is More Gratifying To you?

Which is more gratifying to you? Do you prefer the feeling of money well spent, and do you enjoy the items and services you are able to purchase with your money, or do you prefer to see your growing bank balance represented as a number? I am more inclined to lean towards the larger bank balance as opposed to the more expensive posessions, because I'm happy knowing that the money will be there if i really need it. It makes me feel really safe to have money stored away. I am the same with my points programs. I will let my points and my dollars grow and grow. I hate to spend anything unless I really really want to, or really really need to. I feel much more secure in seeing my money in my account, than seeing it spent on things that I may not need. How about you?

I think the money should always be spent wisely. No matter if you have it more or have it less. It takes a lot more time to earn it than to spend. There can be the incidents when you will need it most. At such times only few are there who help and give you money for your need. When you have money, one must make plans how to secure it and use it for better life. You can then think of using it for purchasing anything or using it for entertainment. You can use money for any purchase or entertainment at any time but it should be wisely. Thank you.

So true. I like to see my bank balance grow and to have a little extra when I really need it. But sometimes I wish the extra money was there to add a little pleasure to life . . . like a nice vacation somewhere. It's good to save though.

Well, I'm inclined to a little bit of both. Once a certain amount is in the bank, I don't see any reason why I should keep adding to it when there's something that I want. The way I see it is this, when we die, we can't take it with us so why not enjoy it while we're alive? Besides, I love to help others in need for it makes me feel good inside. Kind of like "Pay it forward" type of thing. Someone has helped me a GREAT deal when I needed it and so I like to help someone else as much as I can and when I can.

Nice topic my friend. Well, same as here. I would only spend that would be so necessary, aside from that I would feel comfortable knowing my money would be growing up in my account that seeing things that I bought just for its luxurious purposes. Thanks for the nice topic...

I save money so when I need it its there for me to use. But I like to spend my money very wise because now a days people are losing jobs left and right and they don't have a dime to help them selves out of any situation. I enjoy the things I get rather big or small. I like watching my money build up on my pay pal and not have to spend a dime of it unless I have to.

I like getting new things AND seeing my bank balance growing, but tend to be more of a saver than a spender. My mother and grandmother were always very thrifty (frugal, cheap, whatever you want to call it), and it seems to have rubbed off on me.

If you had posted this question two days ago I would have said that I was a squirrel always saving my nuts (money) for a rainy day. Now I cannot say that as yesterday I bought a new car loaded with all extras as it does everything except drive itself. I have always just a car with the basics. However I started to think what am saving every penny for??....seems that it would just be for my family to have a spending spree. Of course I am friends with the General Manager of the dealership so he got me every discount available and he added $1,000.00 to the blue book trade in value. So now at 70 years of age I finally have a "real cool ride".. What is great is that I still have a "rainy day" stash.

To me , money is there to get what I need and want. I am just as happy when I go shopping and everything was on sale. I love it when I don't go over budget.I am happiest when i have everything I need even if I only have 2 doolars in the bank. Are we polar oppossites or what?

Well, I think is important to have a savings account ,and to learn how to invest money wisely ,but I also like to enjoy life and buy nice things. On the other hand, I only buy stuff if I can afford it because of so many money mistakes from the past. I learned my lesson ,and I can also have a good time without spending a lot of money because we need money for emergencies because look what is happening in the U.S. now regarding the economy.

I think im sort of in between. I like to see my bank account grow. I like that safety net. However i also like to be able to make the purchases i need and feel good that i got a good deal and saved money when i got whatever it was. I try not to buy frivolous things - i stick to the things i need and then some things for hobbies. I dont however consider hobbies frivolous - everyone needs something to do!

I would like to see the amount I owe creditors become mine, it will someday, one day at a time.

I believe it's better of us to say that we like saving and watching growth accredit our names with a large number, because it shows smart and responsible decision making. Because I have spend some of my lifetime saving and saving and growing my numeric name, but unfortunately times are hard and "things" are not getting cheaper. It sucks to watch it be taken back by the very people who put us in debt. It is very gratifying to have enough to buy this and that. Even more gratifying knowing you have money each time. I say I prefer the feeling of money well spend, because I work hard for the American dollar, in all I do. Whether physically working, or paying taxes on everything I put my hands on or even having to pay for housing that can eventually be ripped from the bottom of my feet anyway. I want to enjoy what I have before it's taken back by the very people who created the worthless bill. In addition, I have to apologize for coming off so strong. I actually hate money and do believe it's the root of all evil, but that is what it's there for. To be spent (loss; unemployment) or gained (labor; working). Even after we know there is a downfall that is not coming back up any time soon, we are tempted with goods that we do not need...for a good price :)

My dad has plenty of money but you wouldn't think it to look at the old banger of a car he drives! I have never been good at saving but I am trying to change, which is partly why I am trying to make earnings online. I would love the security of savings for once in my life, but I am so poor at the moment I use my online earnings to help with the bills.

I shy away from frivolous shopping, I want some big ticket items, like home improvements. I like knowing that although I earn enough at what I do for a living, I have some other streams of income here online. I want the money and I want it to be available in a hurry if I need it.

I like seeing a nice amount in my accounts too. It's a big comfort. Now I am totally broke and have no balance in my account and I feel very sorry for myself because I bought my middle grandson a birthday present. But then on the other hand, he will be so happy to get new Playstation games to play that it will be worth being completely broke this month. That is what I am telling myself.

I would have to say that it is a little bit of all of the above. I think it is gratifying to be able to buy things, spend a little bit to treat ourselves and also be able to save for the future too.
