hihi, krupesh yes, I always sleep with my telly on. In fact, I cant fall a sleep without it on. It starts with me sitting on the sofa to watch my favorite programs, and mostly I do not see the end of it since I always seems to fall a sleep before it has ended. Now, this is not a god way of falling a sleep.

I almost never watch television. I did used to fall asleep sitting while watching TV. I do not have a long sofa to watch on.I do have a recliner.I have been known to fall asleep sitting in doctors'offices and at the computer.

Hello krupesh. I don't have this habit of sleeping while watching TV, but my mother does. She often falls asleep this way while she is watching TV. My mother sleeps well and snores as well. Then if I happen to see this, I will ask my mother to go and sleep on bed.

Right Krupesh, it's a nice feeling lying in a sofa while watching TV, this is my habit too, everytime I take a nap the TV is on. I can easily sleep while watching TV, though when I opened my eyes, other family members are already watching TV or they had turn it off already.

Oh, yes, so many times! I like to lie down on the sofa to relax while watching tv and then fall asleep even after drinking strong coffee (supposed to keep me awake)! Sometimes i get to open my eyes and ask my husband what happened (with the characters i am following on my favorite soaps) only to see it's a different show already or that he has switched channels! Oh, well, i am one real sleepyhead!

This discussion is very timely because just the other night I slept while television was on. I have this habit of watching tv before I sleep and a few times I forgot to set the sleep timer. I usually watch movies at night because it is the best time to catch good movies.

Hello rg0205,
Why dont you put the programmes which interests him?
By the way did you check the link which I sent you by PM?

Even when programs do interest him, he sometimes falls asleep because the couch or bed is too comfortable. If he wants to stay awake, he normally has to sit on a hard chair so he doesn't fall asleep.
Yes, I got the link LOL. Thanks. I replied on your thread.

Hi there krupesh!
There are times when I watch TV and I end up dozing off. These are the times when I am really tired. Sometimes, I prefer to sit while watching. But at night, I usually watch while lying on the bed.

I have fallen asleep in front of the t.v. This happens either if I've worked hard, been out just having fun, or if I didn't sleep good / at all the night or hours before. I lie down to watch t.v. whenever I can, though sitting is just as good as well. I prefer the den to lie down in to watch t.v. vs the bedroom... though that may change as bed's change (getting a better bed).

I doubt that seriously. Lol. I like to lie in bed to sleep, the couch, while sufficient, isn't always the most comfortable!
Have a great day.

This is not an uncommon phenomenon...or, habit.
There are a few reason why this happens to many of us. (Including me.)
For most of us, we work at least 8 hours a day...and of course, by the end of that work-day, we're tired. The human body's natural circadian rhythm, attuned to the earth's rotation (24 hrs.), begins to slow down around dusk, and our metabolism reduces. This, in a sense, puts the body in "sleep mode" as it were. We eat dinner...in an effort to replenish the body's electrolytes, which had gradually tapered off through the day, during our working/waking hours. When we feel "full", it triggers us into relaxation. We decide, for the sake of argument here, to watch TV. Television...causes us to VISUALLY concentrate more, stimulating the ocsipital region of the brain...the area which controls the eyes, and REM sleep. Since we are ALREADY in our "sleep mode", this additional concentrated effort to watch, causes us to..."nod-off".

One other thing I forgot to add.....
Those of us who take medication at dinner-time, can also increase this "trigger effect" after eating, and can make us fall asleep in front of the TV, that much faster.

Generally, I do lay on the sofa when watching TV, because its such a big and comfy sofa that we have here! The only times im sitting and watching TV when on the sofa is when im eating, even then my legs are stretched out across the sofa! The other time is when im getting ready to go out, like putting my shoes on and such.
It is very easy for me to fall asleep while watching TV if im tired or its very late at night, because the background noise helps me to sleep easier than normal!

I wish I could sleep with the TV on. I need everything to be quiet and I have to be lying in the right position and I have to be warm. I can't sleep in cars or planes or anything moving. The only time I fell asleep watching TV I was sick and have to have surgery. I always envy people who can sleep anywhere. No matter how tired I am I have to be in bed, and sometimes you can't just go to bed.

...you mean to say that you have to be in a very comfortable position to sleep..
