Nowadays camcorders have become cheap and so has the blank DVD and CD. Since most mobile phones have a camera, one can take pictures any time. One can also make videos on mobile phone. Which do you prefer or do quite often? Taking pictures or making videos?

I'm fond of taking pictures and I use it more often. Taking pictures saves battery life compared to making videos. I usually opt for videos when I see something so beautiful that a picture is not enough to express such beauty.

You are right about battery life.

I prefer to take pictures. I love to scrapbook and it just doesnt work scrapbooking videos. To see them all I have to do is look at them, or at the most open a book to look at them. With a video I have to do a lot more with it. Sharing videos is harder to do, too. I like to be able to share things quickly and look at them quickly. So, I have very few videos...

Yes, pictures are easier to share on the net. You can put it on any site easily.

i really have loved them both. although i didnt get enough of videos of family when i had the camcorder. i cherish what few i have and i have tons of pics of everyone and would love to have more. i just think you can never replace all the memories of time and its nice to see way back when.

I prefer taking pictures especially since I received a nice new digital camera for my last birthday. I was using an old fashioned one up until then and I was still getting my photos developed, of course now I can view the photo immediately and with my photographic skills that is a bonus! (LOL) My camera also takes video which I do use a lot to film my daughter’s dancing exams and sport events etc.

I don't know they are both pretty fun but I've always like shooting videos and would like to shoot videos in the future as well. I would like to be able to become a really good director in the future because that would be a really fun and highly creative job. I went on a walk in the woods by the river with my girlfriend the other day and we were taking pictures for her photography class and it was a lot of fun.

I have been a keen photo taker from the day I have known the use of a camera. When we had cameras that too the film loaded one's i used to take a lot of care in not wasting the photos, every time I use it.The maximum no. of photos used to be 32-36 and the film also cost around 2$. The videos haven't been a ,much craze for me,I liked the photos much, the photos when once taken do give the real like like image. The mobile camera that I have these days gives good photos rather than high resolution videos.I am not in a situation to afford camcorders, well its time to switch to new camera though.Memories are so sweet ,to capture them in stills is a good job.

I like both, but taking pictures can be a lot easier and it needs little to no editing at all if you take a good picture. If you want a nice video I personally feel you need to edit a lot more. They are both a fun way of creating and saving personal memories, and I love the videos that were made when I was little as it really captures the moment and movement at that specific time. I am happy to have recordings of my grandmother and not just pictures to remember her by; it's more realistic somehow; but like I said, it takes more effort and time.

I don't do either. I think videos would be fun. Depends on whether I want to see a video or what a picture to frame or exactly what the situation is. I think there is alot to be said for both. It just depends on what you want. Pictures can be very romantic and videos can be very enjoyable, like a the whole football game or something.

i prefer to take pictures, rather than recording a video...picture describes the environment and gives us a 1000 meaning...u can admire ur own picture for hours, but videos, it will keep on rolling...videos are also important on some special ocassions...i think pictures are the best descriptions that can bee seen again and again once if we laminate them... happy to respond.. happy mylotting..

I prefer to take pictures with my mobile phone. I find it doesn't drain the battery as fast as taking videos. Plus it takes up less memory. Pictures upload faster onto websites too. My videos on my mobile phone always turn out blurry and pixelated.

Hi Vanillarey! I have a strong passion for photography, hence I prefer to take pictures (still shots) than videos. For me, serious photography is very challenging and lots of room for creativity too.

I love taking pictures! Although making videos are fun too its just for me there are always a story behind every picture and it is you who narrates it. It is a classic way of storing memories, those happy, sad and special ones. And besides picture eats up a small portion of your phone memory thats why I liked it better. LOL. :) Happy myLotting!

Well i like to take pictures often than videos, because seeing photos gives me more satisfaction than videos. videos can be taken only in special occasions, we cont enjoy videos of natural locations etc., so i like taking pictures than videos.

I love taking pictures with my digital camera, I have never used a video camera before. My sister had one till it was stolen and it was so cool to be able to record stuff about everything and have it to pull out later in life and have a good laugh or cry about it. I will have to say that I would like both the same.

My phone doesn't have the capability of making videos since it's an older phone. I just snap photos with my phone. I have a camcorder but it's now about 20 years old and don't have a clue if it still works.

i prefer taking pic's but it helps if i've got a better camera, the one on our dvd player doesn't quite do the job for me. i'm after one of the good digtial cameras, one day i'll keep dreaming for now. i still find taking pic's with the old cameras better thou there's just something about it.

I prefer to take pictures. I have tried to shoot videos and it can be to fun, too, but I think prefer taking pictures. I am interested in urban exploration, and I love to take picures of abandoned houses. When I have taken some pictures, I like to edit them and I like to "play" with the colours and she different effects. I sell my photos of abandoned houses, and I couldn't sell a video the same way, it is easier to sell a photo. On the other hand it could be interesting to learn more about videos and how to make them, because I don't know that much about it.

For me I still prefer the taking pictures over a video, since its much easier to carry around photos vs a portable video camera and then you have to fidget with it to get the right spot, or it takes forever to watch... when all you really wanted to show was what something looked like... plus pictures dont require batteries to be recharged or replaced either... another plus for pictures. Happy mylotting.
