I often find myself reading post from people Asia, Middle East and Africa regarding everybody as "friends"? I mean, they almost never know the people they are talking to And they also seem think that if talk to someone just once-then you are friends for life.
I am just wondering what is the train of thought with that.

Perhaps greeting others as friends is a cultural thing. I don't know...but I do know that it comes across as friendly and I like it. I have been on mylot for a long time...I have many friends here and none have ever tried to push a friendship on me that I did not want. Many of my friends greet me as "friend" when responding to my discussions and I think it makes the conversation nicer.

I agree with you. Discussions are a lot more lively and interesting if we consider people here in mylot as friends. I mean, sometimes some people differ in views here but still most remain friends. I guess the friendship we can define in this community is just casual but come to think about it: we talk about anything, share opinion, stand by our principle, share problems, give advices, help others, disagree at times but still we strive to find common grounds. Can't we at least consider ourselves bound by a certain friendship no matter the color or the race. I do. So thank you for those who consider me their friend too. Happy mylotting!

when we refer friends then it usually means just a aquaintance whom you may like or are neutral about but definitely are not crossed with.when we are at a deeper or intimate level then they become best friends or close friends.i guess you are confused with the loose use of the term friends for just aqaintances.its no more than that.
