There are a couple of things that you can do to help you to fall asleep. First of all, you need to keep the same schedule every day...go to bed at the same time and get up at around the same time. Some light exercise in the early evening will leave you feeling relaxed and taking a hot shower will also help. Drinking warm milk helps but make sure that you don't eat or drink anything with caffine in it after dinner. When you do go to bed don't worry about falling asleep because that will stress you out. Close your eyes and imagine a relaxing place that you enjoy...picture it in your mind. Let your mind wander around this place and you should fall asleep. Everyone has trouble sleeping from time to time but, if your problem continues for a long period of time, you should see a doctor. Michael Jackson was an extreme case. There is medication that is safe.

I used to have trouble falling asleep which isn't a good thing because I'm a student. What I do is take a hot shower. I lie down on my stomach and read or study for school. I end up falling asleep. Sometimes I don't need to do that anymore because with my schedule right now, I use up much energy during the day. So my secret is kind of being active, using up energy. So that when I come home feeling tired, sleeping for me isn't a problem. Besides those, I just lie down and close my eyes. Sometimes I'd cover my face with a pillow, hehe. I think maybe being active during the day will help you. Getting tired is the only way I can think of. Maybe exercise, physically and mentally. Or get a massage. What makes you sleepy anyway? :) You can visit your doctor and ask for good sleeping pills if all else fails..

My best way is to say to myself it´s not insomnia. Then I choose a rather bad movie at the TV and cuddle in the bed. Many times I have waken up with the TV on and the lights on my eyes.. How about talking to a doctor? There are pills for that.

Falling asleep can be hard to do especially if you are very stressed out. Somethign that you can do to calm down is the have a break for half an hour right before you go to bed. You can read a book or have a shower. Just don't go on the computer or watch television. When you are lying in bed shut your eyes and count down from one hundred. Once you get to zero count back up to one hundred. The point is to keep you mind blank and only focus on the numbers. If you think about anything else other then the nubmers then go back to one hundred and count down. Good luck. Also, try not to eat too much before you go to bed. If you eat lots of food before going to bed then you will get an energy rush.

insomnia hard to sleep - insomnia
Hi Chester04 To fight insomnia you should avoid substances that make it worse and have good bedtime habits that make it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep. Make sure your bedroom is comfortable temperature, dark and quiet. enough for sleep. Prepare your self for sleep by preparing to do list tomorrow,so that such distraction are at their minimum when you actually hit the bed. Not Exercising, heavy meals, or drinking a lot shortly before bedtimes. Making your bedroom sleep friendly Avoid bright lighting and minimize possible sleep distraction, such as a TV,computer, or pet. Going to sleep around the same time each night and waking up around the same time each morning. even on weekends If possible, avoid night shirt or alternating schedules of work and others cause of irregular sleep schedules. you'll just have to make your self change. No caffeine or sugar after 6pm No tv all night you can try sleeping pills take them one hour before you want to go to sleep and some people say those are for only sick people no it not. happy mylottings

One of my children used to be unable to sleep. We had alot of luck with a supplement called Melatonin. You can find it at the health food store. It works.

I sometimes too suffer from insomnia. My causes of insomnia include having irregular sleep time. I often sleep at late night, hence when I tried to sleep early, I can't sleep. Try to make your sleeping and waking up consistent. This will reset your body biological time. Exercise more does help consumes energy and make you tired for sleep. Try listening to some meditation or calm music may help too.

I don't have insomnia but I am a night owl. Normally I don't sleep early at night. But if I need to lay down my head after that, I can sleep with ease. I think a glass of cold water before bed can help. I always feel sleepy after drinking one. They it also help if you meditate and clear you mind. That way you'll feel more relax and able to sleep well.

well, you can try to read some boring story book and novel that have plenty of wording that will make you sleep easily or you can do some sport on the daytime, make yourself tired then you can go in to sleep more easy

IF your insomnia is worse as mine before, this is what you'll need to do, I've read on a health magazine that eat some chilli's, or spice up your dinner. Read a good book (I do this often)... But if this doesn't work... (do this on a weekend) Don't sleep for 24 hours (this is the last resort) and sleep until you're really really tired.

Hello Peppermint tea is pretty good, also try reading a really boring book that always seem to put me to sleep, I have never had this problem, but I do know peppermint tea will relax you and you should have a great sleep, I hope something works for you, would you try over the counter medication like tylenol pm, I use to take that when I worked night and new my sleep will be interrupted, one day they had a parade and I knew I was in trouble I did not hear a thing when I got up and showered and dressed for work they were cleaning up lol I never heard a thing, I know some people don't like the idea of taking pills for whatever reason, but this worked for me. Good luck, hope you find something that will help you.

Other than taking medication, for me the best way to ensure that I get a good night's sleep would be to do some form of exercise in the day. If you can't, sometimes sleeping upside down seems to work - place your pillow at the foot of the bed and sleep that way. For some reason (I don't know why), this works for me! Also, you should avoid coffee if you're in the habit of having any. Good luck!
