I do go to Indian restaurants regularly. In the morning, I will have either a tosai, an yidaly or even an apom. I will have these with the usual condiments. For lunch, I will have the traditional banana leave rice. My favourite will rice with Devil's curry. What about you? Do you like Indian food? Could you relate what are your favourite Indian foods?

I think I had responded to this kind of discussion earlier.. however I don't mind doing it again.. coz Indian food is my favourite food..
I really love Indian food.. especially the curry with banana leave rice, and some mutton curry and a few pieces of papadam! papadam is given free in the restaurant, therefore we could enjoy the best out of it.
In addition, a cup of rassum will be good, especially during the days I caught flu coz it really able to clear my block nose. It's a very good way, natural, nice and good too! at least, I don't have to depend on the medication..
My mum also will do kicheri, once a week, to substitute rice..

Oh yes, papadam is good. Crunchy and crispy. I also like to eat vaday;the soft variety not the hard one. I love sweet payasam too. Some days,I just have a roti canai or a chapati.

Hmm. Kebab! Hehehe. I've tried the eggplant thing with olive oil. I don't know what it's called. Am I right, "kebab" is Indian?

I am not sure of this? Anyone out there can help? I know they cook the round type of egg-plant but not in olive oil;definitely not in Malaysia. As for kebab, there is tandoori but that is not exactly the kebabs you get in Turkish shops.

What is chicken nihari? How is it cooked? We do not have any chicken nihari sold in our Indian shops in Malaysia.Perhaps they should if it is that good.

Hi,
I like rajama Chawal, Chole and kadi. I love the chicken made by my mom. Dal makhni is very good for me and I prefer to have idlis or dhoklas in my breakfast.
I am a bengali so sweets are my wekness, Roshmalai and chamcham are my favorites.

I think you must be from India. Must be nice to go to India to taste all those dishes you mentioned. Here, in Malaysia, we just have a few selectiosn of Devil's curry, kurma curry and chicken vindaloo! Quite nice!

That is real unfair. So no avvkaya for us to taste. Strange that they do not have a great food such as that. Must go and ask around. You wouldn't know if you have not start looking around. By, the way what is this dish?

hi gracefuldove,
I am from India and i like my food a lot. Though i like Italian and Chinese too but ours is what i like most and it is so nice to see people from other countries like our food and by the dishes you mentioned like Idly or utapom it looks like you go to south Indian eating joint. You should try north Indian food too like try butter chicken with nan or try Shahi Paneer and Dal Makhani with butter nan, you would like it and nothing to wash them down like a hot tea after food or a lemonade with food though i like to have coke too.

hey graceful
Its a pleasure to hear that you love indian food :). I am an indian, and I just loveeeeeeeee Indian food, we in india have a great variety of food in every religion and states. If you want to try all varieties, you should explore different states for their specialities. for e.g South indian dishes in south india, Gujrathi dishes from gujrat, Maharastrian dishes from maharastra. etc. you will really enjoy the variety if you visit a particular state for its specialities. A restuarant in one city can't match the quality and taste of all food from different states.
I love all kinds of indian foods especially "maharastrian Thali". I also love south indian food and gujrathi dhoklas and theplas :D.
