I know morality would say that god has gifted us this beautiful life to live for others & make others happy. That should be our purpose of life. But the nex-gen advocation is that life is too short....so live for urself & enjoy yourself to the maximum. What theory do you believe in ??

Hi Udit!
If you wanted to be saint than live life for others is ok. In past human was surrounded by loved one but nowadays number of loved ones decreasing day by day. Now it is relationship of money, fame etc. So in this world if you would prefer to live for others completely then you are going to get nothing back. Only saints can act like that, he can live for others and o good work for others. In modern world make a balance between you and others. To nurture relationships it is required to live for your loved ones too. But balance should be there so person can get time to strengthen himself/herself in bad situations. Have a nice day!! Happy lotting!

Hi Panda,
I think the ideal would be a balance of the two, because if you pick one of them you are always losing out. In the past I tried to change who I was so I could cope better around other people, and in doing that I landed myself in problems. On the same vein of thought if I ever focused completely on myself and cut off contact with other people, I would feel upset because I was losing out on that as well. So instead I am trying to find a balance between the two. Like on mylot. I come on here when I am focused/relaxed enough, but as soon as it starts to affect me adversely in the outside world then I leave and focus on me. I do definitely get my best joy from my online interactions with friends though because they have helped me to understand and form my ideas so much and just give me great laughs.
So yea, I think you need both to be happy. Humans are social creatures so we need other people, but we also need to be true to ourselves otherwise we can't help anyone else.
All the best,
Dranz

First of all, morality wouldn't say anything about god or belifs.
Simply because belifs, society, philosophies (be them religious or not) are the one who made morality. Is not morality who made values, morality is a set of codes of conducts for the use of allready seted up values.
There for the "live for others and make other happy" is less or more, depending NOT of morality, but by morality's generators.
The subject "purpose in life" is meant to be powered more by the education, character, subjectivism and .. opportunities.
New generations seems to see things somehow in opposition ? They are right. From them point of view, in them world (read society, group, company). And surprise: others claiming is also true. In their world (same as above).
Bigest problem from all that is that some take this "difference" to a false level, where the religious "who is not with me is against me" is stated as a rule and therefor confusion between religion and morality ..

Life itself is a continuous process. You should be taking life as it comes. Thinking is required regarding how you should live the life with meaning and fulfillment.
