Honestly..It really depends on the person in particular. Teens and children tend to be the most unhealthy, because of all the junk food and fast food they consume - but I feel like many of us adults in the United States have a better grip on our health than adolescents. Running, spinning, and exercising in general is pretty popular in the US. It's mind-blowing how 70% of the population can be overweight and obsessed with exercising at the same time, though!

American diet is contained more fat and sweets. There are many cases of obesity and diabetes now in the US and some other countries too because of adapting of American diet. Usually there servings in the restaurant and fast food are big I'm not surprised anymore if many people in the US are overweight or have a high blood pressure. Now they are also health conscious and they are more concern about their health.

I agree with the previous posters that in general, Americans are not very healthy. Most Americans eat a diet that is high in fat and sugar and lacking in important nutrients. They eat a lot of processed foods and artificial ingredients that are bad for our bodies, and then to top it all off they don't get enough exercise. A couple of years ago in a sociology class, we were studying various statistics for quality of life around the world. In terms of overall health of its citizens, the United States was ranked 17th among nations. There were actually a couple of "second world" nations that ranked above us. I don't know where our ranking is today, but I doubt that it's changed much.

Yes I agree with Hatly, we are way too many of us over weight. And that is not good for anyone, it is hard on the heart, and causes diabetes. We eat too much fat and too much junk food, (McDonalds, etc)
A lot of people walking around like a time bomb, don't know that their arteries are clogged till that heart attack hits them, and if they lucky they will get another chance. I know I did. We might look healthy, but most aren't. We do eat a lot of fruit and that is good for us, lots of people belong to the gym or the ymca and work out.

I donĀ“t think Americans are healthy at all. They have a big obesity problem and they have not been able to control it. That leads to many illness later. Diabetes and high blood pressure are some of them. But also there are bone problems as the bones are not capable of holding so much weight. I went to Atlantic City 10 years ago and there were a lot of obese people in wheelchairs playing at the casinos. In Disneyworld, you see beautiful kids strolling with their overweight young parents. Every time I saw a young person with adecuate weight, he/she was talking in Spanish.

As a nation Americans really aren't very healthy. We do eat too much of the wrong type of fats and way to much sugar. we are becoming obese. Approximately 127 million adults in the U.S. are overweight, 60 million obese, and 9 million severely obese. this leads to type 2 diabetes as well as high blood pressure and a good chance for heart attacks. the really bad thing is that our children's health are at even greater risk.

There are a lot of Americans that aren't healthy at all. Those that are a healthy weight either eat better than the rest of us, exercise more, or are blessed with a high metabolism. I wish it were something easy like eating more fruit, but I don't think this is the case.
