Ellen Degeneres!!!

Is that because Posh will be a guest judge for the auditions?? That's quite a bummer too, because I so wanna see how Ellen gives quirky comments to the contestants and laugh her signature laughter..

Hello You have to remember they hold auditions all over and Ellen has a day job this may be impossible for her, so I could see why she why she would rather join them when they are done with auditions, I can't wait to watch her, I know she is going to be great, I have missed idol in the past couple of years, I find it boring to me, but now I will be glued to the set, just to hear what she has to say. Thank you.

I really like Ellen Degeneres. She is hysterical. Am wondering if she is joining after the auditions because she's also busy with her daily show. She might have some interesting things to say to Simon and bring humor to the program. Although I do think Paula and Simon interacted so well together, am anxious to see how this works out this year.

yes I am so excited over this and I think Ellen will be bringing a lot to the table and I think that she will be a very good judge and she will bring a lot of fun to the show. I watch her talk show and enjoy it very much and I'm looking forward to watching her judge on idol :)

I think it's better that way because Ellen Degeneres doesn't know enough about music to judge. If you ask me, she shouldn't be judging at all period. They just chose her because she is famous. People think that singing is something that anyone can judge. Well, it isn't. I'm a singer too, so I know how it feels when people who don't really understand music think that they could judge my musical abilities. I don't mind being critiqued by people well learned in music, but by people who don't know? I don't think so.

I am not too excited about Ellen becoming the newest Judge on Idol. As if most critics did not have enough issue with Paula's expertise being a judge on the show, how much more with Ellen? I am not about to make early conclusions though, but for now, it just doesn't feel right at all.

At first I was shocked and thinking "WOW Ellen as a Judge." But then come to think of it, she does allow all of the contestants once they are knocked out a chance to come perform on the show and she talks with them, etc. so why not? I personally think she will bring a lot to the show, and her Humor is definately needed. As for her coming in after the auditions, considering the auditions have already happened, this would be right. But it will be Great to have her on here for sure.

I did hear about her being the 4th judge. I didn't hear about her starting after the auditions though. I think she is funny and I think she will be a good judge. I hope they change it though to let her be there through the auditions too. I think she should have to go through the auditions just like the other 3 judges. I would like to hear her opinions on the auditions. She would probably give them more credit than the other judges do.

'after the auditions' means 'hollywood week' ??.. probably the producers think if they allowed her to judge from the very start.. they might not have as many people they'd want to bring to hollywood.. the real 'drama' starts in hollywood-week, right.. so i think it would still be interesting to watch Ellen play her part during the hollywood-week... *i also think she'd make a much better judge than Kara.. and i am gonna miss Paula so terribly...

Ellen's got a pretty tight schedule, I think. There are sooo many of these contest shows now and the ratings are pretty volatile. Probably just want to see where it goes. Ellen is still considered a controversial person in some circles. So there was a lot involved in that decision, I'm sure.

hi lilyofthethorns I love Ellen as shes so funny and 'entertaining and she would make a great judge on American Idol,yes it would have been good to let her join to start with. anyway I will really have to'watch American Idol after this,as I do like Ellen.

it really surprised me that Ellen made it as new judge on idol. i thought that the 4th judge added on AI when Paula was still around in AI was the replacement for paula and so they had the girl on the show while paula while still on the show so paula can guide her on being a new judge of the show. so i was not expecting that they will add ellen as a new judge. i guess ellen was added to make the show more lively and funny like paula did to the show. and so i know that AI won't be boring any more with Ellen around the show. it won't be so formal and will be more like entertainment as it should while still being a real or professional contest with fair judging as it should. i can't actually it is an insult on the part of ellen if they have her after the audition. either ellen was busy yet, or be that they just don't think ellen will make a good choice. but still i think that ellen will have a say on the show when she finallys sits as judge after the audition. cause her decision and comment will still matter on how people will vote for those who make it after the audition.

i am excited with ellen being a part of the show too. i think she's smart and funny. i hope she and the other 3 judges get along well.

What? they only include Ellen inside the show itself, that is unfair. She must be treated like kara deo Guardi, she was new last year and Ellen must be includingon the choosing the finalist from different cities. It will went out funny I am sure if Ellen will be there. Ellen is the who welcome every finalist that voted out of the Ai, isn't it? All AI that has been voted out is guesting on her show. I watch it.

hello LilyoftheThorns, Same thing here. Can't wait to see her on American Idol do the judging. For sure everyone will be as excited as I am for she's so funny and entertaining. Wel gonna enjoy it from start to finish.

It is really a nice thing to know that she will be on AI. She is funny without even trying. She will put life on the show. It will be an added entertainment. I am sure that a lot of people will tune in more on American Idol.

I believe that when Ellen Degeneres becomes a judge in the American Idol. There will be great singers to come. She is truly marvelous. I hope that she'll be strict so that new batch of singers will do great and push to their limits to show off their talents.

Yeah, I think it will be refreshing to have someone with no musical background to provide a "real" person's point of view. She is very funny so it should be interesting to see how she interacts with the contestants and the other judges.
