How to get the best out of your current job?

I am still enjoying my current job as I am able to learn a lot more from it however there are times when I have difficulties and in one time a felt bored and useless so I am contemplating on finding another job. With the current situation of recession and some of my friends had lost their jobs as the companies that they work with for more than 10 years closed, finding a new job would be very hard or even finding additional or part time job is quite a question. Can you give ways to enjoy or get the most of one's job? Your responses are greatly appreciated!
