I am presently reading a novel called the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I picked up the book as I was interested in the philosophy of Objectivism propounded by the author. What are you reading nowadays?

Till now, I have read around 150 pages. I have mixed feelings about the book. Whether I like the book or not would greatly depend upon what happens in the later part of the book. But, I definately find it interesting till now.

The story line is interesting and the writing not too awful, but Objectivism is an awful pseudo-philosophy from which has developed many of the environmental problems and human disasters of today's world. Objectivism without the balance of humanity is a machine-like, robotic view.

At the moment, nothing new. But, about once a year, I feel the urge to reread Little Women, so I've been doing that, as well as the sequels.

I am reading "The Twisted Root", written by Anne Perry in 1999. She proposes the reader a trip to the end of the nineteen century (1860 or so). It´s an amusing detective story that starts with the main character, William Monk, a private investigator, accepting a trivial case. A lady engaged with a rich heir suddenly disappears without a trace.
One of the best virtues of the novel is that Anne Perry doesn´t feel the need of giving a history lesson. She only describes the moral principles of the period she is recreating and emphasizes in certain historical figures such as Admiral Nelson or Florence Nightingale. A very stimulating book.

I am reading a book written by a chinese girl, who has been staying in London for five years. The book is taken from her diaries over the years. There are many books of this sort, some really good as travel reference, others just so so, repeating the difficult days and personal feelings.

Hi countless! I like to read all sorts of books. Right now I'm reading a novel named City of Thieves by David Benioff. It was recommended to me by a friend, and so far it's very interesting. I just bought another book titled The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. My sister read it and said it was really good. I've never read The Fountainhead, but I have read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I like some of the ideas of Objectivism, but some seem a bit strange. Happy reading and myLotting!
