How do you choose the books you are going to read?

I choose the books I'm going to read by talking to friends about what they have read and enjoyed and by searching online to read reviews and the best sellers lists. I also like to see what authors that I like have written in the past or are going to be bringing out soon. So far this has worked for me and I've read a lot of really great books. How do you choose what books you are going to read?

Well, I do have hundreds of books to be read on my shelves right now, but I also keep a list of books to watch out for. I hear about these from newspaper reviews as well as reviews on here. Also television shows when they talk about a new book they have out. If I am keen on the celebrity I will make note of it. I really shouldn't be purchasing anymore books with the tons I have here but I can't resist buying from garage sales and used book stores. I am also a member of a writing group so we also discuss books and authors and get my ideas from them. And of course, any member of group that becomes publish we must purchase the book to support them as I know they will do for me when I get published.

Yeah, I can't help buying more books too, it's an addiction I think. I probably have at least 100 on my shelves that I haven't read yet but I just keep buying more, especially when you can get a great deal like at a used book store. Good luck getting published.

I usually go to library or book shoping mall to find out the books i want to read, but I scarcely buy them until I confirm that they are worth rereading. Also I will read the book my friends or some people I respect recommend.

I read reviews in newspapers and online, look for recommended titles similar to one's i've read before and enjoyed. Sometimes I browse the shelves in the book shop and just look t covers or titles I like the look of and read the back. Recommendations from friends are also good sources.

Since i borrow all the books from the national libraries, I am indifference to the authors. I just select those mystery or thrillers paperbacks. Sometimes I just grab a book and go, doesn't even matter what kind of book that is. I am more selective in non-fiction books. I prefer to read business and finance related books. I have read most of the books by popular finance and business writers, even some textbooks kind of publication. The only bad thing about visiting the libraries is those books in a series are not always available in order. Sometimes part 4 is available, sometimes part 7 is available. Sometimes the first book in a series in one library, and the second book in another branch.

When I buy books I see the authors first and then I do not need to read the back cover too so I just spot the names of the authors and then I buy the books to read, so it is indeed very easy for me to choose a book.

well, firstly, I have to admit that I'm a not a patient reader, I hate to reading like an idiot, but... as my work requires some technical skills, I have to learn from books, usually I choose my work related books to improve my competences.

i read reviews on forums. i check out the best sellers list too. and i ask my friends if what they've read this particular book already and what they think about it. and most of the time, i really liked the books that they recommended.

hello maybebaby...i can't do that cause i have no friends who have same interest as mine...i choose my books based on the title and the summary at the back cover...i go to a bookstore, specially book sale then scan the shelf and if the title seems interesting, i will read the summary or plot at the back... sometimes i pick something that is not my interest... but that is 2 out of 10 chances...

The majority of the way that I choose the books that I am going to read is by looking at the books themselves. If it looks like something that could be interesting to me then I will read it. After I've established that I like a particular author, then I will buy more of their books and read them as well. This is a practice that I take part in over and over. I don't rely on the opinions of my friends because I tend to read books that are much different from what they read. This technique has worked out very well for me and it is one that I will continue to use in the future as well.

I usually look on Amazon.com to see what new books are coming out. I also check out the fictiondb.com website to see what is also coming out. Also, I check out the individual authors that are my favorites and check out what they have coming out next. I also work at the local library and I get to see what is coming out. So many books to read.....

Like you I look at what writers that I like have written and go for those. Most of the time I will just go into a book store and if I see a title that catches my eye I will read the blurb. If it sounds good I'll read it.

I talk to friends, read reviews, and if I find an author I like then I will read all of their books. I love to read just about anything so it's not hard for me to find something I like. I also like checking out bookstores. I will find my favorite author and then look in that same area for a book that looks interesting. It gives me a starting point.
