It is like the must have in most households! My kids would eat only peanut butter sandwiches if I allowed them to do so. What is it that you like about peanut butter? Is it the flavor? Is it the compatibility with jelly? Why is peanut butter a staple?

I remember growing up with PB&J sandwiches because you didn't have to put it in the fridge. Was easier to take to school as a lunch. I never really thought of the appeal of it because that's what we needed to do for school lunches.
Now, I honestly only buy it to make Christmas cookies because none of my children will eat it. I've tried one sandwich in the last year (some left over from Christmas) and I couldn't eat it. I ended up throwing the rest of it way because it never got used.
I thought maybe had so many of them as a kid I was just sick of it now.

I think peanut butter fits into the "yummy" category because it fills both the salty and the sweet cravings that I get once in a while. The fact that it goes great with a little jelly is a bonus. The other thing that as an adult that I have noted is that peanut butter is filling. When trying to watch my weight, if I get a hunger, a small teaspoon of peanut butter usally gets my stomach to wuit making so much noise. The other bonus is that it is high on protein, which is great for the kids. You can always get less sugary brands if that's a concern.

For me it is just about the flavor. That and it is an easy snack right out of the jar. It also has a good shelf life. For me it has nothing to do with it going good with jelly, as I very rarely have it with jelly. I always just like it on its own.

What isn't there to like about peanut butter? Kidding I know everyone has their own taste. I love peanut butter. It is very versatile. You can use it for dessert or dinner dishes (like thai dishes) or you can eat it straight. Plus, chocolate and peanut butter, to me, the best combination ever.
It is a good source of protein and a natural healthy mono fats. Keep in mind I am talking about the peanut butter I buy which is 100% peanuts, nothing else, no added oils or sugar like the mainstream brands. Even brands like Skippy Naturals are not natural they add excess oils. Stick with the true natural brands that add nothing but peanuts. Sure you might have to stir it the first time and refrigerate it after you open it, but it is much healthier.

I am personally a huge PB&J fan. Other than that, I'm not a fan of peanut butter -- at all! I cannot stand the taste of PB alone. But I can munch up about 3-4 PB&Js in one sitting. Strange, huh? I think people like the fact that it's a somewhat-healthy comfort food. Just my guess.
