the first ever love of my life has passed away.....

Granted, he never knew who i was, and he was old enough to be my father, but Patrick Swayze passed away today. Patrick was my first ever celebrity love. Fromthe first time i ever saw him in Dirty Dancing i was entranced....his bad boy looks and acts...and his dancing...and the way he woo'd Baby away from her sheltered, rich life and showed her how to really live... I used to have a poster of him on my bedroom wall...life sized of him from just below the waist to the top of his head, dressed all in black, from the dirty dancing movie. I coudln't tell you how many lipstick marks were all over his face, as i would kiss his poster every night before i went to bed..(and come on..at the age of 10, it wasn't really a kiss unless you had lipstick on and could leave mark!) Granted, a few years later he was replaced with an obsession over New Kids On The Block...but there wa always a special place in my heart when i thought of him....brought back good memories of innocent crushes. How about you guys? Anyone out there have a celebrity crush they would like to share from their childhood? Was anyone else out there as in love with Partick as i was? We'll all miss you Johnny....i hope you had the time of your life while you were with us (sorry if that was cheesy...)

I saw that he passed from another discussion here and I'm sad. He's had a battle and he's at peace. God Bless. I think him in Road House and working out in the barn - oh baby. LOL That is one of my favorite movies. A crush though. Honestly, I think Kevin Kline and Kevin Spacey are hotties. I think they are both fit men and they are 'real' men to me. Like a person you'd met on the street real. I know I watch every movie I came across with them in it. I just like their style.

Yes, i am sure he is in a better place now, he hadn't been doing well for some time now =0( I adore Kevin spacey as well. I don't think i have ever seen a movie staring him that i haven't enjoyed. I think it is more of a personality thing, but i find him extremely endearing as well. Thanks for sharing!

HE did give a good fight I just was hoping that fight would lead to a cure for the cancer he had like he wanted. I can watch all his shows over and over again! My daughter had a crush on him too and has 2 copies of dirty danceing we watch alot. When we heard she was ihn the kitchen but we called her to the puter room and stood by in case she cried told us later she would do that in private. But then to this was exspected to happen but later!

Oh, that is so sad. I am sorry to hear she took it so badly! I was saddened, but not to that extent. Today i got to comiserate with some co-workers who were also big fans.... A good friend of mine had a great idea. We are going to have a little party to commemorate his passing...probably dirty dancing themed...have some drinks...watch the movie and just hang out.

I felt the same way as yours. It is actually depressing. He was a very good actor and person. He's one of the few hollywood celebrities whom I really love. He's a big lose from the entertainment industry.

Yes, he will be dearly missed by many. So many good movies..And he is to be highly commended for working right up until the very end, despite the pain he must have been in.

I didn't know that Patrick Swayze had passed away until I logged on to mylot. I really hate to hear this, he was a good actor. Over the years I have enjoyed watching a lot of his movies, in fact I watched Next of Kin just the other night. The actor that I went crazy over when I was young was Don Johnson,I just thought that he was so good looking. You know it's sad when you think about how many celebrities have passed away in the last few months.

Dear Liz, Oh yes, I always like Patrick Swayze. He can really dance... I fell in love with him in Dirty Dancing, then I read article about him, he was a very fit person, he cycled every morning! I watched Dirty Dancing in the cinemas 3 times. Before a movie shown in cinemas, I will have different groups of friends talking about it...so, I normally agreed to join them once the show start screen in nearby theatres. First I watch it with my current husband (ten he was just my brother's friend), 2nd - I watch with my friend (we alway watch movies together - both of us are movie goer), third I watch with my college mates again. But I get never bored with this movie, I remembered watched it again on the television. I still can recall some of the music and songs in this movie! Cheers and do keep in touch! Another movie that I love very much acted by Patrick Swayze was 'Ghost'. Great movie....Btw, I really did not know that he passed away. May God Bless his soul. How did he passed? Hope to hear from you

Yes, he has been figting off pancreatic cancer for the past couple years now. It was reall just a matter of time. I have the movie on DVD, the special 20th anniversary edition....i still pop it in a couple times a year and watch it. I also used to have the soundtrack on tape and used to listen to it all the time. There is not a song formt hemovie that can come on the radio that doens't make me think of the movie!!

It really upset me last night when I saw that he had passed away. I loved him as Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing and I also loved the role that he played in Ghost. And yes, he was old enough to have been my father, but he was just so darned sexy. There was a time in my life that I watched Dirty Dancing every single night and dreamt about him at night. However, I know that he had a fairly long battle with cancer and I know that he is in a better place now and is not in pain or suffering.

I remember him also for his role in the Wong Foo movie. It was fun watching that. It is sad to hear that he has departed and left family and friends. We just hope that he has prepared himself and his family in time.

He had been very ill for a few years now, trying to battle pancreatic cancer, so i am sure he and his family had prepared for the worst. I don't recall that movie, i'll have to look into it.
