Have you noticed that a lot of people tell lies about where they work or lie saying they have not done something where as they know that you know that they have done something. What is the point of them being liars as liars always get found out?

I think that there are different reasons as to why we lie. It could be because we lack the confidence to tell the truth. Sometimes, it could be that we don't want to hurt the other person's feeling by telling them the truth. These are just two reasons that I can think of, right now, but I'm sure that they're not the only reasons.

people tell lies for different reasons. some do it because they do not want other people to be mad at them. some do it so as not to hurt other people's feelings. some do it to trick or hurt other people intentionally.
lying is part of being human. i don't believe that there's one grown-up person who has not told a single lie ever.

Hey there! I think people lie because they lack confidence and they're trying to make up thing that aren't real to hide their flaws and weaknesses. Others lie so that they can cover something up. Not all liars are found out and most of the time, the people who are found out try to cover it up with more lies and sometimes drag other people with them, forcing them to lie as well.

people resort to telling lies when they wish to conceal facts about themselves. the biggest lie that the person says is that s/he never lies. well, people hide fcats about their profession or examination results or income so that their ego is not hurt.
people conceal other facts too so as to save themselves from punishments. if a lie is said and it does not harm someone then it is alright, but if false statement is furnished to put someone in trouble then the lie is severely punishable.

Telling lies was preferred by other people to avoid hurting a love ones or other people. Some tells it because of pride, they conceal the truth because they know it will just make their lives miserable and they don't want to be a laughig stuff.

I have not noticed that liars always get found out. Actually, I've found that it is quite the opposite. Liars often don't get found out and they are the most prosperous because they are not scared to do anything. When they do get found out, they are masters of making it not matter and tricking the other people into not making a big deal about it.

People tell lies just to hide something. Maybe if they will hide the truth they will save someone. Maybe if they lie they will be having a job. If they lie people will look at them lucky and perfect. If they lie people will think they are powerful. If they lie people will get jealous with them. Lie are done on purpose and its plan. Before you lie you think of it first, you plan and practice what you have to say, like on alibis. They just don’t come out on your mouth, it comes from the brain out of thinking about it. Lying is never good. Even if it makes you lucky, perfect, powerful, people will get jealous of you, it will not work because you can never hide the truth. So lying is useless, but we still do it, just to escape the truth. Because the truth hurts no matter we deny it.

EVERYBODY lies at one time or another during their lifetime.

I think what irks me even more, are those people who don't lie straight out, but instead stretch the truth a little more. It's those who take a small scenario, and add their own details to make a story sound more convincing, or to make it sound like they know more than you do about the situation. Some people even do it just to make conversation, because without making something up, they have nothing to really say. Some people change the story because they think you can't handle the truth, they don't want you to feel bad, or they want to make it sound a little glossier than what it actually is.
I usually can read into these people quickly, and stay away from them. I am actually obsessed with honesty, and when I don't see it in others, I get bad fibes, and can never trust them.

Hey jugsjugs,
I tend to tell lies in the way that what I think often differs from what other people think, and so I lie about how I think to match what other people expect. I used to do this a lot when I was younger. In my case if people used to ask me if I missed them I would say 'yes' even if I hadn't, because I knew it was the nicer thing to do.
I never lie about jobs or anything, though I hate being asked because I don't have a good answer. As for why other people lie, either to not worry people (in the case of parents), or to try and make themselves seem better than they are.
I couldn't lie though, I have a terrible poker face, you can read the lies instantly lol!
I wish you all the best and do agree with the comment on the front page here, not all liars are found out, especially not the seasoned ones who do it all the time, shame that!

Hi, thanks for bringing out this discussion, I believe we all lie sometimes which not a bad thing to do but am not advocation for a lie after the other. Also i think telling lies about where you work or live is a stupid lie.

I have known a number of people like this and it is something similar to people who gossip constantly about other people. Some people just don't like themselves so have to make up things to make themselves appear more important or to make themselves seem better than other people. they are sad little people who cannot accept themselves for what they are and in doing so, nobody can accept them for the way they are behaving. So they never get any real acceptance, just a big unhappy circle.

Sometimes people lie in order not to hurt someone's feelings. We call it "white lies". And those who have done something wrong and lied about it maybe because they don't wanna put themselves in an embarassing situation. And this happened to me more than once but i ask GOD forgiveness after...

I always think it is because they perhaps lack confidence and by making things up it sometimes gives them a false confidence. Additionally I think others feel as though they have to be competitive and give in to peer pressure and tell lies in order to be popular or look as if they are better than others.

Some people tend to tell lies to protect themselves and seek a way to escape. They will say anything to make sure they can get away from being punish. It's true that people will eventually know about them but some liars are too good. They can escape no matter what and we don't even know they're liars. I don't know how this kind of people do it but eventually, they're too lucky.
