Should age stop you from reaching your dream or goal?

When we are young we always have these dreams that "one day" or "someday" i will be a doctor or actress/actor or even millionaire. As time go by, usually those dreams one by one just 'died' and become a fairy tale. How many of you think that you are too old to make those dreams a reality? Or somehow, you still or you are going to keep it alive even you have no idea how to make it real. Should age stop us from reaching these dream?

No. I mean, of course you should be practical. No one's going to climb Mt. Everest at 89 but barring that go for it! It doesn't matter how old you are or what your circumstances are. If you really want to do something, go to it and never give up!

I understand completely what you are saying here. I used to want to be a doctor when I grew up, but then I got married and had children and that dream faded away from me. However, in general, I don't think that there is an age where you can stop reaching for your dreams. If we were to establish an age at which we could no longer reach for our dreams, what would there be left to strive for in life. As long as we have something that we aspire for we have a reason to go on living. If we were to give up all of our dreams and goals there really wouldn't be a reason to go on living.

Yup, some of my dreams kind of faded away. Like you said got married, have kids, it kind of change the priority in my life. There are some of the dreams that still alive that I'm pretty sure a way will open up for me to make it come true.

I don't think that age stops our dreams or goals. I am fairly young right now, but I don't ever see myself giving up on my dreams just because I've gotten older. I have seen some who have thinking that they are impossible, but you always have to have that drive. I am just going back to school in order to reach my dreams. I started a little later then some, but you know what I just keep putting my mind to it, and keep moving forward. As long as your dreamin your livin.

I have a friend that just going back to school this semester, and she over 40 already. She told me that she always wanted to be a doctor, but now she's going back to school to be nurse. It's really good for her, at least her dreams to work in medical field is getting closer even she's not going to be adoctor.

of course we should not stop chasing our dreams. the problem is should we follow our childhood dream? whe i was a child i dreamed to be a scientist. however i did not know when and why i did not follow the dream. at last i studied economics and worked as an economist. now i have a new dream. i want to be a professional writer and translator. it's partly my hobby, also out of practical reason. to me it's my dream. i need to work hard to reach it. however if one day i changed my direction of life i will not feel any regret for it either. i think the most important thing is to have a dream, no matter it can be true or not.

For me right now, definitely not my childhood dream. But I know I still try to "pursue" one. And I have no idea how but when there's a will there's a way.

Hi Ibuemma, Age should not stop us for doing anything that we like or want to do. As long as we have a strong determination and confidence to do it, no matter how old are you at that point of time, just do it!! We should not let age affects our dreams/goal. Age is just a number. We might have old looking, but as long as we feel that we are young in hearts, nothing will stop us for chasing our dream.

hi ibuemma, when we are young, we want to be everything! The teacher, then the actor, then the doctor, and so on... Obviously, everything is not feasible. Oh! I know we have a couple of weird people in the world who manage to be good in several things. . But we are not that weird, are we? Seriously, over the years, several of those ambitions fade out, and only the true desires, linger on for longer. And those too need not be forgotten. Life gives us a second chance around 50. By the time, if we can finish our retirement planning, and mortgages, then we can certainly give it a shot. After all, what have we to lose, once our retirement sum is neatly packed and tucked away. :) I always wanted to sing. Though I still cannot afford the high fees music teachers charge, I have never really left it. I do it all the time!

Dreams can come at any age but fulfilling them will happen to only few fortunate people. Most of my dreams never became true and yes age stop us from reaching these dreams. If I dream that I am great cricket player and after 30 years age will not allow you to play cricket. So, for some dreams age is a constraint. Some of the dreams will remain as dream because some dreams cannot be made real. Lot of luck and compatabilty is needed in the person..

Well I'm reaching 62 next month. I still have dreams for the future! If you give up your dreams what do you have left to live for? You may have to readjust your goals as time goes on, but you must never try to live without dreams and goals! tdemex

Hi There I don't think age is an obstacle unless that person is using age for he/she not to go far in life.I think one should continue to push forward and not lose hope because anything is possible that's why they say expect the unexpected anyway the only way you will not be able to move forward in life is only if your tied to your bed Cheers!

age shouldn't stop a person. i was on my way to finishing my masters in educational management when i decided to move to another city to marry. i had a son and decided to stay at home to take care of him. luckily, i had this sense, no offense to anybody, to just have a child (only one) since i think i can put myself in those families where there is only a small no. of children and the parents are successful. i picture myself finishing my masters when my son reaches high school where we plan to send him off to a seminary (for the training, particularly and not because we want him to be a priest). after that, maybe, that's when i'd take the next step...

There's no age limit in reaching your dreams and aspirations. At an old age many of our aspirations die but if your willing to fulfill your dreams you can still achieve it. You could also share your dreams to your children or grandchildren to help you see the fulfillment of your dreams

I will share my dreams with my kids, but I will never force them to make it real for me. They have their own dream and I respect them for that.

Someday i will be a shadow of the government, heck even if im 50 or 60 as long as i enjoy my job and be passionate about it there's nothing if your old to do that, the key in reaching this goal is hard work & determination and most of all have faith in God, since im a Roman Catholic. These dream dreams of ours can be ours one day if well strive hard and do our best to achieve it.

Age does not matter if your really want to achieve your goals. It's being patient and really putting yourself into it and by foccusing to your goal, thinking that you can do it no matter what.

To dream is for free just like the air we breath. I remember Susan Boyle of BGT. At the age of 45, she managed to reach her dream of becoming a star/singer. Let her be an example that age should not become a hindrance of reaching our dreams. Dream big....dream high...

I don't think you are never to old to reach for your goal and dreams, it's just life can be really hard and people can e depressing. I know for me it's people who discourage me a lot, but I feel that you just have to be determined on your goal and just do wantever you want, but I don't believe that anyone should ever give up on there goal unless the person really want to.

It is a real dilemma. With age, we lose our dreams. And if we intend to pursue it, our spouse will stop us from going in that direction. She or he will tell you to let the children pursue their dreams. For us, day is done. It's time to lie down......to pasture.

There's no age limit in attaining one's dream. After all, our dreams are kinda like our "guidelines" of what we want to happen in reality. I think, it's not really the age that hinders a man to pursue his dreams, there are other factors such as commitments, status in life, if it is "possible" or not and as such. Dreams will come true depending if you believe that it will, and age is not an issue. :) Have a great day! :D
