How to make money through google adsense?

Hello guys can some body tell me how i can make money through google adsense as i am very fond of writing articles. I have written many articles on many sites. I tried to sign in for google adsense but i dont know how to submit a website on it. I have heard that we need to have at least 6 months old website to sign up with google adsense. I am very much interested to join google adsense and want to make some money through this program.Do i need to have a website for that?
