Does anyone write for the examiner and how hard is it to join? I see they have an application to fill out before they even let you write. Do they accept everyone or just certain people?

I am not sure how hard it is to join. I personally applied for one of my local categories there on September 10. Still waiting on if I get accepted. I think the application said it could take up to two weeks to hear back from them. I am also kind of curious about how it works. All I really know is that the pay rate is supposedly $0.01 per page view your stuff gets. Also, it is supposed to be a good place to get noticed and potential for further freelance work.

That's what I am wondering about too. What does that mean exactly? Do they have newspapers or magazines buying articles? I hope I get accepted, just to find out.

I do not know, but I think people have been "discovered" on Examiner and offered more regular salary type positions. It also serves a good portfolio for when applying to other freelance jobs.

Seriously? You heard they have been discovered there? I need to go there, but maybe they will just put a ban on me. LOL I am waiting to see.

I am a bit curious about this myself, in case I ever get the chance to do more writing.

I just got accepted a couple of days ago. Since I am at my dad's, I am having a lot of problems getting the computer to cooperate, but I sent an email saying I am still interested and will download my info as soon as possible. I tried once, but they didn't want pen names. I thought that was interesting.

Of course they don't want pen names. They want real professional people with real professional writing.

Would they pay good on this? I want to know if anyone join this website too. It is all about writing articles for the local city. I am interest on this one too, but I am not a good writer. I need more time to hone my writing skills here.

If I find out and you join you will have to tell them that I referred you. LOL I will tell everyone if I get accepted and what not. It looks a little intimidating. I'm not sure what will come of it.

Someone on Ehow invited me to join and I put in an application on Friday and was accepted this morning. I just faxed in the W9. I will be doing articles in the Raleigh NC Travel Section. I will probably get writing this week - not really sure how the whole thing works yet. I can post another update when I find out. I think if you are reccommended you might get in faster but I am really not sure. I do not think there are any referrals or anything like that. Try it!

Cool! Good for you, congrats. Someone recommended me, but I had read her writings and didn't want to put that down because I wasn't impressed by the quality. LOL Guess next time I should write it in. LOL

I just got accepted as well. I sent in a bio and picture, but they don't want pen names and I was going to use the one that I have on AC. I guess there goes that idea. LOL
