Work is very important to me, so if I had a boyfriend who asked me to quit my job I would seriously reconsider my choice for a boyfriend. If he wanted me to get a better job because right now I'm underemployed (and my boss and I sometimes fight), that would be one thing. But I value work very highly, and I wouldn't want to be with someone who doesn't respect that.

I wou not resign, if i was enjoying my job, just because a bf wanted me to.
I think that would be unreasonable of him.

If my boyfriend asked me to quit my job, and I would ask him why. There can be a lot of different reasons why he asks me to quit. Maybe he thinks that my job is too far away from home, maybe he thinks that I don't earn enough, maybe he is jealous of my boss or my male co-workers, maybe he simply doesn't like my job because of ideological reasons etc. There can be so many different reasons why he wants to me quit, so I would definately have to find out more, before I decide whether to quit or not. If I understand his reasons, I might quit the job, but it depends on the situation.

No, I think it's not a rivalry. I mean, it just looks like boyfriend vs. job? LOL..
I'm satisfied with my job, but if I were in that situation, I think the best way to solve it is to confront your boyfriend. Have a conversation wherein ask him why he doesn't like your job?
Because if he really loves you, he will respect you and your decision.
