who should spend the money?

Sometimes one person in the relationship is better with finances than the other. As long as the decision is mutual, the financial person should do it. Otherwise the decisions should come from both.

I think both should be in charge, but if one person is irresponsible and does not have good control over spending then it should be the one that can spend wiser. I am a two worker family and both of us are in charge. I tend to spend and never think about the future so I always ask before I spend.

I agree with that. I do not believe that a household should have seperate accounts. And definatly that is a good call when you know that you may overspend at times or forget that a bill is due and working as a team helps to make this work well

My husband does not want to be bothered with the financial stuff. I am an accountant, so I understand the finances, but sometimes I wish he would help me out a little more with those things. I think both should contribute to the decisions for some things.
