Some people do it for fun. few do it because it is their way of earning money or living. i didn't try to shoplift nor i plan to even for fun. i think it is just plain wrong. i just watched a show where they caught a mother assisting her very young daughter shoplifting. and because of hidden camera that they were able to capture this in tape.
I am really amazed why some people do force their young ones to do those things for them to earn money. it is like crazy. sometimes looking at them i feel that they could find a decent cause they look decent and they have nice looks and i don't think finding a job will be hard for them.

but it can be funny memory to took back cause it happened in our child hood though i would not encourage children to do that cause we can still have good memories of our childhood without resorting to that kind of thing.

No, I have never done that for any reason. I don't find this activity the slightest interesting. I would rather die than do shoplifting for an earning. I suppose those who do it are real helpless people.

yes, some people do that as a full time job. i don't know how they are able to live normally when you are doing something against the law. they don't seem to be a bit scared at all. like it is just normal part of life.

No, I have not and will not. I think that it is very wrong!! I teach my kids that anytime they take something that doesn't belong to them without permission, it is stealing. One time, My daughter shoplifted. She took a package of lipgloss from the store and I didn't know it until we got home. Immediately, my husband and I took her back to the store. My husband went in and talked to the manager who did a very good job of helping us teach her a lesson. I highly doubt that she will ever do that again.

wow that is really commendable for teaching your children not to steal. and you went to the extent of bring her back to the store to return it. i think that taught your daughter a precious lesson in life and that she will be able to remember it till her adult life. and she would surely grow a very good person.

I shoplifted once, but it was a dare. The guys in my group said I can never nick even a piece of candy! So I went inside the store and nicked a handful of Kisses. Next day they want me to do it again, but this time, they want some Toblerones, I refused then said they would do it instead and called me a sissy. After 3 minutes they came out of the store crying their eyes out, the owner caught them red handed and reported it to our headmaster and to their parents... Who's the sissy now? heeheehee

I have never shoplifed for any reason in my life for anything. I agree with you it is all wrong. I believe in working for what I want and what I need. I was taught that by my mother and I taught my children to work for what they want. I do not see how anyone could teach their children to steal. When my children were little I took care of them, my mother, and many of my nieces and nephews. It was hard sometimes, but God always brought us through.

Yes, I have shoplifted when I was young. Its not something I was very proud. It was not for fun either.. it was because of necessity. I was hungry and I didnt have enough money for some snacks i had at a bakery. So instead of paying the little money I had and get caught for not paying the whole amount, I just casually strolled out of the bakery.
At that moment, i couldnt think of anything else to do.. LOL
But I do agree with you. Parents should never set a bad example to their children and encourage them to shoplift, especially as a career... thats bad!!

Well, I had never shoplifted for any reason. It's just wrong, and we are taught from young that shoplifting is wrong no matter what the reason is. However, nowadays, a lot of teenagers do not follow, and shoplifted for fun, or for the thrill, or because of friends, etc... These people do have the money to pay for the items, but they choose to shoplift at such a young age. It's not good, and a lot of them do it again and again when they are not caught.
However, there's also another group of people who shoplifted because of their situation. They had nothing to eat, and had to resort to stealing to feed their family. Although this is wrong too, I also pity this group of people...
In any way, I think a mother who teaches their child to shoplift is really the worst. How can the mother do such things? I mean the child is young, and is not able to differentiate from right and wrong. By getting your child to do this, you are trying to tell that it's right to do this... I think it will be better for the child not to follow the mother anymore since the mother herself does not know how to teach a child...

those kind of mothers that teach their children to shoplift are a shame and they are not worth to take care of children. it is sad cause children has not choice but to obey cause they forced to and because they love their parents so they help their parents.

No and never will. But I have broken a bottle of medicine in one of my visits to the pharmacy. My big bag got in the way. So I paid for the broken bottle of medicine. Thank god, the shop only asked me to pay cost price!

I have, however, in my defense the crime was stealing a lollipop.
It was a time when I couldn't carry any money with me and... those lollipops just seemed too damned sweet, so, against a better judgment (that I didn't had), I decided to steal some.
The "joke" repeated itself some time later, but that time around I was caught and I guess it worked well enough for a lesson to never again do it again.

I can not understand why people treated the shoplift as fun and they might be put in jail if the did so and I did believe some kind of rich people stole things just for just as their life is so boring that they would like to search the excitement outside without noticing the law effect there.

Nope I will never shoplift since I think its wrong to do it and its a sin. And plus I know I wouldnt get away with it especially with all of those secuirty cameras it makes it kind of hard to shop lift today and I wouldnt want to be in prision for shoplifting something I could of easily paid for.

There is a disorder named Kleptomania. People in this condition are compelled to steal stuff of little or no significant value. This disorder was first recognized as a mental problem in 1960s. It always manifests during puberty. I think the daughter in your story may have this problem. She needs some medical treatment for herself.

I've never shoplifted and I don't ever want to do it. Even if I really want something, I won't enjoy it when I get it through dishonest means. And I can't imagine myself doing it for fun. I won't have fun at all because if I do that I would then think of myself as a terrible person and be ashamed.

I have never shoplifted, but I have caught alot of shoplifters being a manger at a large retail store. I have seen many different types of people steal. You would be surprised how many little innocent grandmothers are getting away with make-up or cd's and dvd's.
