What do you like doing on your birthday?

I was just wondering. It's been three years since I celebrated my birthday by partying. My last birthday party was a surprise swimming party planned by my friends. The next year I just stayed at home, blew out cake candles and had a usual dinner. I don't know why I don't feel like throwing a party. I just want to be left in peace and silence on my birthday. So you guys, what do you like doing on your birthday?

For a long long time, I've never done anything exciting on my birthday. Back in high school my birthday fell on exam days, so yeah, that pretty much sucked out all the fun out of my birthday LOL! This year though, I wanted to do something crazy, so I had a funny hat party! I invited my closest friends, and also my sister's best friend. We had loads of fun, and my funny hat party turned into a costume party because my friends brought all these costumes with them! I hope I get to do something fun again next year. I think the best would be being able to celebrate it on a vacation in another country. That would be awesome!

Sometimes, I would think that it would be nice if I could go out somewhere on my day but, on the actual day itself, I feel like it would just better if I stayed at home and spend it like a usual day without doing much.. not as complicating as it could be. Then, there are times when I think it would be nice to throw a party of some sort, spending time with my friends but, with no particular reason like a birthday or some special event. Just pick an ordinary day and then celebrate on it.. well, that's the idea anyway.

Hello phyrethyme, throwing a surprise swimming party would be really be a nice way of celebrating your birthday. As for me, I like to celebrate my birthday with my family. We would just go to a mall, window shop, play some arcade games, and eat in a restaurant. I would also attend to mass in the morning, or before we go home. I think I'm too old for a party, unless of course, somebody will throw me a surprise birthday party.

When I turned 30 I had two big birthday parties, but I don't have a party every year. I usually invite my parents, my brother, and one of my close friends for dinner. Sometimes we eat at home, and sometimes have dinner at a restaurant. I turn 33 in a few weeks, and this week I plan on inviting my family and my friend for dinner at a restaurant. Last year we had Mexican food, it was very good, but I would like to do something different this year. I think we will go an Indian restaurant, but I haven't decided yet.

last year, i wanted to have a small party where everyone eats food and i was demanding that i have cake,. i didnt have my cake and i was disappointed. this year, i didnt even realize that my bday was approaching, so i decided that i would spend it going out with friends who make me laugh (i have very funny friends). but things went on differently, my coworkers and students inspired/coaxed.persuaded me to invite them home, my mother and aunt prepared something for me without me asking for it, my relatives came, i just laughed the night out. i didnt plan anything, but i had a blast bec. you arent worried abou anything and i didnt expect anything but be happy. the only thing that i plannes to do was have a hair makeover, that went well. but like you, peace is also a gift on one's bday

I had really celebrated my birthday with a party in 1985 when i was working in one of the Gulf nations. Since we had no other means of entertainment we used to wait for somebody`s birthday to come up and then have a terrific bash. Eventually after rturning to my home country i altogether stopped celebrating my birthday. Nowadays i receive phone calls from a few friends and relatives and a close friend sends me a chocolate cake. I live alone therefore like you have a quiet dinner all by myself. I do not miss the parties or anybody and for me it is just another day with the knowledge that one more year of my life has passed away and i am closer to deliverance from this worldly life.

Every year on my birthday, I take the day off work (if I'm scheduled) and I go out to dinner with my close family and maybe a couple of close friends. I work in a field where I work 3rd shift and if you are normally scheduled on a holiday - you have to work it -this includes the big ones like Thanksgiving, Christmas -4th of July -all those ones that most people get to celebrate with their family by getting together and doing something. So since I usually work through all that. I make the one holiday my Birthday and go to a restaurant I enjoy and bring the people I want to see and talk to the most with me. It has become a tradition of mine. :) And the restaurant give free birthday dessert too!
