there is a said tat HISTORY IS ALWAYS HIS-STORY ...so ignoring lil boring part of it i think one should study the history to get the flavour of past , to know wot all gr8 things our ansisters hav done n mistakes also ;)obviously to correct them n to not to repeat ...because HISTORY REPEATS!!!!

Oh I so hate history ! I just hate it when they used to tell those boring stories. Ya they were interesting and all and as you said HIS-STORY, fine, they should just tell us HIS STORY. Why do they make us byheart the story ???
Well as you said, history repeats and so this fact that they teach history is gonna keep repeating...

Simple, the old addage that goes, "those who refuse to learn from history are ddomed to repeat it" I think history should be one of the most important subjects taught in school. why is it our country is in the trouble it is today? Because we didn't listen to history and the warnings our founders gave and we ignored the tools they left us to keep us on the right track.

Indidentaly, good dicsussion, but I almost skipped over it because the text was horrid... italics should be used only to emphisise certian portins and the whole caps on - caps off thing was really annoying. Try to keep it a bit straight forward next time would ya?

may be bcoz we should be prepared to again live in history as if in future a world war occurs then the development will end this world and thus we should know the ways of starting the mankind again.
About learning the dates,may be its for the development of ones brain to hold as much capacity as possible.

We need to study history so that it will not keep on repeating because the first time we did not listen so it repeats LOL.
Then there are patterns in history that people who predict the future also study and based their predictions on these.
Then we need to learn lessons from the past. Although dates and some facts and persons are so boring in class. LOL

Aah ! I don't know either. Story telling is fine but studying the thing. 
Ya history is interesting and magnificent and we should be proud of our history and I'm really proud of mine. But why are their exams on the subject ? Why do we have to byheart it ???
