Well the new school year is upon us... it has now been a week that the schools are now back in session around here and my son is in first grade and has a new teacher of course. I havent had the chance to really meet her... unfortunately they had "Meet the Teacher" night last night and my car had to be fixed instead of going there... so we didnt get to make it. She seems nice, and my son said she is nicer than the one he had last year... considering he was really close to the one he had last year this makes me feel pretty good about her. I just have to get use to the new system of how she does things vs. how the old teacher did. So I was wondering, are you happy with your kids teacher this year?

So far my girls have been in school for over a month now but their teachers both seem alright. I know my younger daughters teacher is very strict when it comes to homework which is a little annoying. My daughter that I am talking about is online in the 3rd grade but I know school rules and work is way different from when I was in school. [/em]lol[/em] Although it has only been about 10 years or so. I think that this school year will turn out well and my hope is they keep learning more and more and for that I am so ever greatful thanks for sharing this discuss and happy mylotting to you as well.

yes, there education is so important!!! I think as long as they are not having a problem with the teachers then they can make it through the year and do well... if they have a conflict of problems with there teacher that makes it worse for both the students, parents and the school which makes for a really rough year!!! It is good that your girls are doing well... I hope the rest of the year stays that way too. oh yeah, homework is not fun!!! thanks for the response and have a great day!

my son is now in grade 2 and more important for me than the academic awards is the fact that he enjoy school, he loves his teachers and that he is happy with his school life.... but for months the school started,, i can feel that my son is not happy with his teachers,, so how i had this uncomfortable feeling.. i always ask my son after school,, if his teachers love him,, sometimes he just had no comment..the more i got this unhappy feeling too... yesterday, my son was chosen to represent his school for the math quiz bowl together with the other grade 2 student from the other section... and unfortunately my son got 2nd only,, and aside from the sad feeling because he did not got the 1st place, my son got more unhappy because his teacher never consoled him instead they ignored him... for me that was not fair, because my son did his best,, and being 2nd is an achievement already,,,,, and i was also there in the classroom when the teacher commented that it is time for the 1st place winner to shine,, does she meant to say, my son's star is not shining anymore... my son also heard this and i know deep inside he is hurting badly... so by Monday,, i will really talk to the teacher and his other teacher in math. they have no right to make my son unhappy,.... teacher should motivate students to do their best and console them that they can do better.... and teachers should help parents to discover more of our child goodness and talents not just the negative comments .....

that is so sad to hear, and I agree with you 100% a teacher should be there to motivate and to push them to do there best no matter what. I am sorry your son is having a sad time and I really hope that you get it cleared up with his teacher because it is hard enough for us parents to send our kids to a place all day to learn and we dont want them to feel sad about it...it should be a good experience for them. thanks for the response and have a great day!

my son got a new teacher and aid at the start of this term, the teacher was also my 4th grade teacher when she first moved to the area back in the early 90's. so far it's been good, but then we get a new teacher next yr and she's from the city. the class my son is in is k/1/2, cause it's only a small school with about 30 kids all up.

I home school so some may wonder why I would answer this question. Well I cyber home school so the program has teachers for a "class" of 10 or so students. They are there to help support the parents and to do weekly checks to see how the kids are coming along (so parents don't just pass their kids along) and the women we have this year all seem very nice. I am very pleased with my oldest special ed. Teacher (she has a regular and special ed to help with learning disabilities) she seems to be on the ball and has given us some very helpful advise as well as the supportive words that have in a few weeks really given my kids some confidence that we where trying so hard to build. According to her every time I say something she says "you have to say that your my Mom" hard to fight that pre-teen way of thinking..lol

wow, well kudos to you for homeschooling... my husband kept saying that we could do that but I know for sure myself that I couldnt do it, and my son really needs to be around other kids or he is bouncing off the walls. that sounds great that you have that type of support and that you are happy with the teachers you have!! thanks for the response and have a great day!

So far, I am about as happy as can be expected with my daughter's teacher this year. She says that she likes her new teacher a whole lot, but I really haven't had the opportunity to really get to know her. I was very happy about the fact that when my daughter had me send her teacher an email to request that she have harder homework, the very next week Kathryn got to bring home an extra packet of homework to work on. The thing with my daughter that is a challenge is that she is exceptionally bright and neither in kindergarten last year nor so far this year in first grade has she ever felt challenged.
