I'm currently attending a 5-day training for Project Management.. the training is 8 hours per day, and today is the 4th day... I just can't seem to find a way to make keep myself from dozing off during discussions, specially in the afternoon.. I have tried eating candies just to keep myself from sleeping but it doesn't work.. anyone here have any tips for me? really really need it. And no coffee please. It doesn't have a good effect on my stomach.

Are you getting sleepy after you eat lunch? If so then that might be the problem. Your not getting enough protein in your system first thing in the morning. I have myself doing the same thing and had a doctor to tell me this. Protein gives you energy. Or it could be that it is that boring that everyone is having problems staying awake...LOL..I wish you luck and have a good day...

Hi, when I read your discussion, maybe you have finished your trainning. how do you deal with this problem, what's the effect? If I didnot sleep a while in the noon, I would feel sleepiing in the afternoon. I think I have the question with you. So I want to listen to your opinions on this problem.

Yep. I have already finished my training a couple of days ago. What I did was I have a cup of water beside me I drink like a couple of times in an hour, sometimes, I stand up during discussions, the instructor doesn't mind cause he knows how sleepy we are. lol.

When I got hired for my new job back in July, I had to start a new training too and that was for 5 days at 8 hours a day too. For the most part, we had several breaks during the day to really try and get our classrooms in order and decide on how we wanted to do things. However, there were some days were training just dragged on and on. I've found that chewing gum really helps me stay awake as well as having something to drink. See if you can bring in something to drink such as ice water or something. I think that helps you stay awake because you're staying hydrated and what not.

I always have a cup of water beside me.. the thing is.. it would make me go to the bathroom like every 30 minutes, and sometimes, I get shy because I was going out of the room too often. lol. maybe I should try chewing gum. thanks for the advice. Happy mylotting!

it's either you should try drinking extra-joss every time you're thirsty or probably download horror asian movies like the ring, the grudge, coming soon and others. and watch it on your phone to keep you from going to sleep. coffee can only make you paranoid and scared and sleepy.

I don't like drinking extra Joss, cause I don't like the weird feeling it gives to me. lol. I should try scary movies though, cause I'm easily scared, and I think that would definitely keep me awake. though I wouldn't drink coffee while watching the horror films.. that would have a bad effect on me. definitely.

I have actually done all of the things that you have mentioned, but it seems like I still get sleepy.. maybe there's already something wrong with the topic of our training, or maybe the instructor. lol. anyway, thanks for responding! Happy mylotting!

Why not try to ask questions as much as possible. Its a good way to remove that feeling sleepy. It will make your mind think and active enough for the rest of the day. I hate long training hours and as you said, early afternoon seems a drooping time for it. Thats why instead of getting to sleep while the trainer is discussing, I try to ask questions just to keep awake. I mean questions that are relevant and important to the discussion.
