When you run your computer at night, do you find some things are better and some

things are worse? Like speed, my computer is working great at 3:34AM right now. But the bugs on my screen are amazing. I have to keep stopping and either kill them or shoo them away (wave at them to get them to move-in case shoo isn't part of a translation kit/site). What differences do you find when you use your computer during different times of the day? What are the best times and worst times for you? Best is when few are on like right now. Worst for me is when payrolls are being transmitted to banks in my area. Thursday afternoon and most of Friday.

Late at night my computer does run faster but I don't..lol Am not usually on past 11. Early in the morning is a good time also. If I am up by 6 or earlier, things move much faster. The worst time of the day for me to try to send emails or respond to discussions on myLot is about 5:00pm. Am better off to play a game online and forget any emails for about an hour.

Yeah, all of the people in the East are trying to hurry up and get work done before going home, probably. I think business computers somehow have priority over the rest of us, don't you?

sometimes it works well then sometimes it hung up often that i need to restart it again and again. i dont know what my computer is like that. sometimes i suspected for a virus attack but i already scan all or even defrag but still the same.

Could be many things. Some viruses don't show up when scanned. I had one in my computer and when scanned didn't come back as one. Then someone else scanned my computer with their anti-virus and found it. We erased everything and started over again.

I had that a lot until a friend upgraded my computer, now it (cross my fingers and knock on wood) hasn't happened. So if your computer has room on it to upgrade, maybe you can.

Maybe it works that way for your computer. So far some computers don't experience much for slow downs, some experience it a lot, and on a regular basis. Thanks for responding and take care.

I don't know if it's all that much better in the dark, but I don't like using a lot of electricity when I'm the only one up and I'm just using the computer. Thanks and take care

I don't really notice any changes of my computer during night and day. My computer runs great all the time :).
But sometimes internet speed is a liitle bit higher at night when I download somehting from megaupload. But for example rapidshare it stays the same.
grtz

Interesting, only downloads are slower, I wish that was the way it is for me, esp. on Thursday evenings and Fridays. Thanks and take care.

it is just the same actually. i don't notice any difference. but a year ago my connection will generally be faster at night and in the early morning and gets slower from 10 am till afternoon. but now it does not matter what time i get online it is just the same speed. but if there is slow connection which rarely happens i just stop using the computer cause it will be slow to use the computer or internet.

Don't really notice any difference, although I do not really use the computer at night all the way. Maybe the internet connection will be alittle faster.

Well, some day if you get up in the middle of the night and can't sleep, you can try it and find out. Thanks and take care

Well if you're on at night, you can't compare it to the day. Thanks and you have a nice day, too. Take care.

Well, it does seem the internet connection for my computer does run faster in the middle of the night when most people are asleep. I don't have a bug problem with bugs flying around my computer. I have screens on my window to keep bugs out.

We have tiny, tiny bugs that are smaller than the screens. Trust me, I live in a swamp and I have screens, do I ever have screens.

This is weird indeed! I don't find any difference at all in terms of performance in any different situations whether it be in the day time or night. I do have a gaming computer that I built but I think you're referring to internet speeds and reliability right?
Are you sure what you're seeing isn't just coincidence because you're more tired and easily frustrated at night? That's definitely the case for me XD hahaha

Well, the only thing bad is on winter nights the cold around here can be rather rigorous and make one want to stay cozy in the bed rather than at the computer, and, bugs aside, everything else is either indifferent or slightly better.
My machine runs decently well since it's kept in good condition (logically and physically speaking), but, at the night being cooler it's always better to keep it more fresh and thus work more stably even with my CPU over-clocked and working at the limit.
Plus, the colder the better for the computer since the cooler environment allow the components to not heat up as much from their internal working, thus causing less wearing out (I'm not exactly sure if the difference is huge in what comes to life expectancy, but, whatever helps right?).

I usually set my laptop for movie download or I play online games that use up a lot of bandwith. People in my area generally sleep and don't use the internet at night. At certain times I get small speed boosts. I usually download 3-4 movies in a span of 6-7 hours. I use the laptop with my lights off and the windows open but bugs aren't a big problem for me mainly because I live on the 9th floor and only small moths which are brave enough to venture that high usually come in. I do have this weird problem though. Sometimes when I've left my laptop to download a movie or something, when I wake up in the morning to check its progress I usually spot 2-3 ants sometimes walking across the screen. Has this ever happened to you?

Only had ants when ate at computer. Stopped doing that. Putting a circle of mint oil around your computer should keep them away. They hate mint. Although we do use a lot of mint cups.

I don't know whether it is my ISP, and they haven't dedicated enough service to my area...or what...BUT from 4:30 a.m. PST 'til about 12 noon, my computer slows down to the speeds of dial-up! I am guessing it is because 4:30 am my time is 8:30am EST..and Toronto being the hub of Stock Exchange, business Centre Giant, etc., is the slow-down reason! I am not sure, and yes, some days are worse than others! There are days I get so frustrated, as making a post on "myLot" can take up to 15 minutes! Do you live on the West Coast, too? Have a banner day..and Cheers!

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it works well at night. I think that certainley beacuse of the its more cool and processor doesnt get heated seeing my core i7 has a colatge of 135W! I find that download speed is fast at night beacuse there is less traffic. I often download stuff over 1gb at night.

Thank you, hadn't thought about my core or my voltage or whatever the second word is. That's a perspective I hadn't considered at all.

There's a big difference when you run your computer at night or in the morning or at noon since the weather if it's sunny and hot especially summer , if you dont have a good AC the process seems to be slower since computers processors needs more colder environment to run smoothly, and one more thing the INTERNET at night is it fast but when is not at night it's slow.
