I've not long finished reading The People's Train, by Tom Keneally - the same author who wrote Schindler's List.
It's a surprisingly dull story, in spite of being set in tumultuous times, because the main character, who narrates the first half of the book, is so focused on his socialism and the coming revolution that he seems to have no time for any real human contact. He should be likable, but he comes across as boring.
The second half of the book is narrated by a different character, but we still don't seem to get close to any of the people in the story. A very odd book!
