The exact words are " If we cannot love the person whom we see, how can we love God, whom we can not see ... " .. mother Theresa how tru .. in reality Our love has become conditional, each people of the religion loves only of their own religion. They do not share the love with others of other religion .. Please come into terms .. god created all human, even if we are not of the same belief ... the same god that created you, created me too For the non-believers of GOD !! you already said you dont believe in GOD as you cant see him, but you can see me and many other humans .. so we are the true, love another human being My message is .. Stop fighting for religion .. love all human alike cheers

sanjana_aslam, Did Mother Teresa really quoted those words? Then, I am just wondering just how contradictory it is as she once said these: "Sweetest Lord, make me appreciative of the dignity of my high vocation, and its many responsibilities. Never permit me to disgrace it by giving way to coldness, unkindness, or impatience. " and "The success of love is in the loving - it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done. " I feel that Mother Teresa was both a devout Christian and an independent thinker. As such, I doubt she would be too independent to put God's reference after her in her life, works and most of all words - where she unmistakeably said: "There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in - that we do it to God, to Christ, and that's why we try to do it as beautifully as possible." Have a nice day.

hi sky .. i saw the quote reffered to Mother Theresa .. maybe i believe the quotes are made at the moments of 'any incident' and knowing quotes, we only get a part of it and not the whole sentence .. i dont think she contradicted at all from your quotes as the message is there, she loves god and the reference has all been for her to be more devoted to GOD but in the first context she is reffering to others .. she asks them to love another human being and only then you can love god .. i believe she proved the words, she loved the children of India which was not her nation at all .. by that she had proved her love for god whom she cant see cheers

sanjana_aslam, Well, as per my responses, I have given you a full perspective of what Mother Teresa actually said as opposed to your partial gathered statements, I hope you have another read and see if you have a better understanding of things. I just beg to differ on one issue and that is if Mother Teresa did not first learn how to commit herself fully and love God with all her heart and soul - then there would not be a Mother Teresa today. It is not an abstract here as it is a given fact that humans are so imperfect that comes with so much boundless griefs and disappointments that is simply just too hard for her or me to place my first love or trust in men than before God. Anyway, think about it - it's been thought provoking discussion here.

Hi sanjana_aslam, Thank you for this post, we need more people here who think like you. Here Mother Theresa is quoting her lord and master Jesus Christ, but the meaning is the same. I was very impressed with the way you reached out to everyone, including non-believers. Whether we believe in God or not, we all need to stand together as one to help our fellow human beings. I echo your call, stop fighting over religion and love all human beings alike. Blessings.

hi again yes we have to love others that we see so we can love God whom we cannot see , we should love unconditionally after all we are all humans, regardless of our religions and we should love all our brothers as we would have them love us, without any strings, just unconditional love.

You are absolutely right we can never love god until we got love for our fellow human beings.God has created each other to spread love and happiness amongst ourselves, so i believe if we going to hate gods own creation then we can never love him.I am too seriously against this religion thing i hate people who fight for land, caste, race. Its all so small things that we are fighting for and truly speaking we dont even know why are we fighting for its just been a culture to be followed.

That was nice, but why limit it to humans only? Why not animals, plants and all inanimate as far as possible? God could be an exception; since He's yet to be proven to exist. However, if someone wants to love God, go on. No harm whatsoever, unless you don't ignore common sensical facts; especially when concerned with others. Btw, it's strange coming from Mother Teresa's mouth, since she was a devout evangelist Christian and I strongly doubt if she would have done all the charity work had the victims not promised or showed signs of converting to Christianity. How does it become selfless and unconditional love then? Your message has been received and acknowledged duly

cannibal .. god is one .. which ever path you take which ever religion you belong to, we reach out to the same and one god .. I am looking at it in different view, she had given hope and dreams to many of the lost souls in India which were not helped by HINDUs , which they should be doing so By converting some people into Christian and at the same time giving them somewhere to hold to is better than helping dear so i love you cannibal ... which means i love god more cheers

To sanjana_aslam this is checkmail and I do belive in god and its generousity towards the mankind.Well god is present everywhere on this present Human civilisation, in every human, living beings and etc.So instead of saying that we don't klove another human say it as we don't love god itself.Even boldly asking you aren't you god to someone. The mighty and the powerful and the weak and the poor, does creates the gods evolution among us.So basically till our existence we cannot say that God doesn't exists.

In this big world, there are some good people and bad ones too in good number.the work of this bad people is to hate the people of other religions and consider them as their enemies which is a very wrong thing to do. Our new generation do not have the feeling of religions, even in school;s and collges we are brother and sisters but what happens when we come out and step in the new world. They are provoked by other people and so the seed of hateness comes in his innocent mind too, which increases time to time.

Mother Theresa borrowed those words from the Bible book of 1 John 4:20-21 (New International Version) 20If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother. If there is one God then we are all brothers and sisters, so we need to love everyone. Loving everyone means hating no one. There are many different religions because there exists different ideas on how to worship God. Still, hatred should not be a part of any religion. If a religion teaches or leads one to hate another person then the religion is flawed and not a way to worship God. Many religions have taught lies and promoted hatred. They and their promoters will be dealt by God. We need not be overly concerned by what another person does. We should be concerned about what we individually do. God will judge each one of us individually for what we do. We are individually accountable for what we do.
