I just want to share to you my experience today in our office. One of my officemates lost her cellphone. According to her during her lunch time, she is just with one of our team mates and she let his guy hold her cellphone because she went to the rest room. Since this lady is already old, she just notice that her cellphone is not with her after four hours. So she confirmed it to the guy and informed him that he has already returned the cellphone. But the lady really can't remember. Since I had no a lot of work that time, I tried to investigate and proceed to our locker area. I call her number and heard it ringing. The prospected suspect got panic and shout us and tell us we should have to go back to work. I've heard that the phone ringing is coming from the locker of the suspected guy. He went home early today and did not even bother to talk to us.The investigation is not yet done but I 'm happy that I was able to report this case. I was able to help my officemate. What about you?Do you have any experience the same situation? What did you do?Share your experience.

You're the hero for sure and i bet from now on NO ONE from that office will ever talk or even trust him with their belongings. it's really sad that it's happening even in your office, CALL CENTER office that is. it's really awful.. he'll be punished for sure, damn right he should be!

We are actually in just one team. That is the saddest part there, we are just in one team and he did this. He has been talk of the floor for the whole day.I don't know hoe he get to manage himself. i saw him this morning and he is really irritated, and I can feel that he is mad at me and not just telling me. I can feel that he wants to tell me that: "it's all because of you , why I feel so embarrass today".I just answered him back with my eyes: "you deserve more than that!"lol!I am not bad, all I want is justice for the victim!

lolthis time, i won't waste my time following him or checking on the things that he is doing, i just let the management do the investigation. This case is very common mostly in call center. In the previous company that you have worked with, did you experienced this?

rberon, first I am happy that you caught the thief. But at the same time I am saddened by the thought that the culprit is someone who knows the victim. I mean I would not let someone hold my phone unless I trust him enough not to read my messages or browse through my phone. So I am unhappy that this guy would take advantage of stealing a co-workers phone, no matter if he is in a tight financial situation. I also know that you work in a call center and I have worked in four different call centers, but so far I only know of one where stealing was kinda rampant and it happens all the time in the locker room which is separate from the main part of the office. Guards tell us that it can only be co-workers who can steal from these lockers and those that we know personally because they would know the combination of the locks or have an extra key to the lock.
The precautionary measure that I did at that call center was I never left my phone in my locker, I left it at the guard instead. As for money, I would have a small wallet that I could slip in the pocket of my jacket. In this way even if thieves would look inside my locker, there would be nothing to steal.

Part of the reason we were allowed to leave our phone with the guards (sort of a baggage counter thingy :P) was so that we don't lose our phones in our lockers. There is no CCTV camera in that area of the floor, so thieves know that they can rummage through lockers. Guards will not notice them because to them, its just another employee going through their stuff. If they aren't close, why would she entrust this guy with her phone? Well, this should be a lesson learned for her. I also hope that the guy that you caught gets reprimanded for this. Even if it means losing his job.

If you would see my last post, i have post that they are really close. In our lockers, we have two CCTV cameras, so it would be easy for our facilities to detect if the guy has a malicious actions. I hope this case will be closed and investigated at once.

the saddest thing is that they are really close to each other. they used to eat lunch together most of the time. Lucky you because you are allowed or the guard allows you to left your cellphone to the guard. With us, we are required to put it into our lockers so that our job will not be destructed. Tomorrow is the retrieval of the whole thing that happened in the locker area. Probably and hopefully this will be the last time of his evilness. I really pity those victims who almost cry because of the disappointments and frustrations.

That was very heroic of you, really. I can't imagine that this guy would resort to stealing a senior colleague's cellphone. The lady definitely trusted him to ask him to hold her cellphone while she went to the restroom. I hope he really learned his lesson. Luckily you were there to save the day..
I've never encountered such a thing, but I've witnessed a gang fight before from afar, and I decided to call the police. But as I was about to, a few people were already saying they had called and I felt glad that there were others willing to be frontal about it and report such things.

Having an attempt to call the police is already considered as an heroic act. I have to commend you for that. I understand that we are in the recession period this time but still we should not do that for us to survive. If we really want to survive, why not just borrow money from someone and with that, it won't destroy your reputation as a person.

WTG, rberon1985, I haven't had that experience, but I do commend you for a job well done. The theif, couldn't deny it, because you proved he had the phone and it was locked up in his locker. Look like the thief would have thought to turn the phone off before he placed it in his locker, but the evilness in his heart didn't prepare him for the goodness of the Holy Spirit. Have a BLESSED day.

Thanks for the appreciation. I did this effort to stop the cases that is happening in our office. A lot of people is being affected because of this person. Based on my investigation, this is his third victim. The continuation of investigation will be continued tomorrow. they will try to retrieve in the camera if this guy really returned the cellphone to the owner. If not, I'm sure the sanction that will be given to him is termination. This is something bad to hear but this is the only way to stop his evilness.

OMG, you mean this guy has done it before? I would suggest that you do sanction this person and terminate him if proven that he has done this before. There is a certain misconception for Filipinos that if you work in a call center, you're earning big bucks. But this is not true and we all know how expensive it is to buy phones here in the Philippines. I do hope that he gets blacklisted in other call centers too.

Termination! that's some nice news. Trust! again is a very big issue on friendship, you do something like that (stealing) then that's it.If i were in that company i would surely give him a left hook and right hook once he stepped out and walk out a few miles from the office..i know there isn't much people on the road there...sorry rberon, i get boiled hearing this kind of thing.

I have been a victim of snatching of mobile phone twice that is why my eagerness to caught person like this. They deserve to be given a sanction. We are working hard to buy new things for ourself then the will just get it to us. As far as I know, once proven that he really get the cellphone, automatically he will be terminated in our company. This is not the first time he did this.

Hey rberon..You are great...I think that was a wonderful thing for you to do. I do hope that they will do something to him. Maybe you will be noticed for your actions. I personally have had a similar action take place several years back. I was with a small company and they had a guy who was not really working but turning hours that he had. I found this out and reported to the boss. They started investigated him and sure enough he was sitting in the park for hours but showed that he had worked. I got a bonus out of this..Good deals are always rewarding..

I did. well not myself. I went to someone who can help and she helped me catch it. I was a cashier and was new at the time. A senior staff was checking my report and counting the money herself. I was in between chats so I didn't really pay attention what she did. So she took a piece of bank note and said that my report didn't match I had to make up for the loss. I couldn't sleep because I needed the money that's why I worked, and now I had to pay?
So I went to this lady that has let's say specific ability. She gave me some things to put on my cashier area and then the staff was sick or something. I don't remember what happened but something happened that unfolded the mystery. I lost respect for her, but the company decided to keep her because she was a fast worker and she worked there for a long time. It was stressful to work there knowing that I couldn't trust the person that was checking my own statement. So it didn't work out. I quit afer 5 months, no regrets, only relief.

That is a good decision of yours. It will not be your lost. It's the lost of the company. Maybe she just envy you, because of your beauty or your beautiful body.lol.Or maybe she is did that to be promoted. If I would also in your situation, i will do the same, i will also quit. I don't want to work with an enemy in the office. Ir will be very hard for me to concentrate.

Wow, what a hero! I like what you did. I've never had experience like you do, but if I were you, I would definitely do the same thing. Stealing colleague's mobile phone is something shameless, and mainly suspect's colleague is old enough. It seems the suspect used victim's deficiency. What's the point by stealing your mate's mobile phone? You can buy one with your money, though. What did the suspect do after you reported the case ? Just hopping there's nothing big between you and the suspect.

I can see the madness in his face and I can feel that he wants to spank me because of what I did, all i want is justice for the victim. It is already the time to stop all his evilness. The investigation is now on going and i will be very happy if they will find out that he is really the suspect.

I haven't caught any thieves but i wrote a book report about Ali Baba and the forty thieves late this afternoon. I typed it and printed it out for my nephew. My aunt and uncle was asking for a favor to type it from them since their child is just grade 3 and none of them knows how to use the computer.
Anyway, back to your story. I am glad that you have caught the culprit. I bet your office mate will hide his face forever. What a horrible thing to do with an old lady. shame on him and hail rberon.

I'm glad you were able to catch the culprit.Honesty and hard work always pay.I've never done something like this though i would've loved to have done it.But i think it was naive on the lady's part to hand over her mobile to a person whose antecedents she was unaware of.

She gave her full trust to the guy because they are just in one batch, so they have together for quiet sometime.Today, the lady was asked to make an incident report for what has happened yesterday and my name is included in the said incident report. It is actually not a problem for me, in this way, I can be able to help the victim and stop the evilness of the said guy. I hope this case will be resolved soon.

I experienced almost the same story as yours. I caught a thief who was attempting to get inside our home last year. I was really horrified when he was attempting to open the door of our house. Fortunately, he made a noise that woke me up. I lighted up the lights outside and when he felt that somebody inside noticed him, he hurriedly ran away. Thanks God, he left.

How come he didn't turned off the cell.. any fool will know that the person who has lost his cell will call its number to see whether its stolen or he misplaced it, and the first thing any one do after stealing a mobile phone is to turn it off. I had once found stoled mobile of a friend but for sure not by ringing, but by searching the person i suspected.. as the person stolen it, was not dumb and had switched it off right away and found in his socks while searching...lol
