Hi friends,
I just want to share something i know about the number of members and number of ranks in the interest. I hope it will be helpful for you as many of them probably don't know this..
I just found this info by a simply experimenting..
The ones that shows before your eyes about the ranked 181 out of 31,461 can be misunderstood that the myLot.com has 31,461 members.
Also, while starting the discussion the myLot.com has 41,710 in the bracket. You can see such numbers while starting discussions..
This also can be misunderstood that it is the number of discussions made in that particular interest.
The numbers inside the bracket while starting the discussion is actually the number of the users that joined that interest, this means 41,710 joined myLot.com interest. The other ones 31,461 means they are the numbers who got their ranks..
Ranks will be awarded to you only when you are rated. That means 41,710-31,461=10,249.
So, 10,249 members in this interest didn't got any of the ratings (not even a single one) in this interest.
You can see that in the small interests like fun with friends, you need not to agree with me!,greek life style, etc., the number of users is lesser and the number of the rank holders is more...
That means you need not to join a interest to get a rank.. But, your rank will be very less. I also noticed that, the ones who joined the particular interest got their rankings more compared to the ones who didn't joined..
Hope these informations helpful to you..

For this discussion:
Do you know this informations before?
Do you like to explore myLot just like i did?
Aren't you curious what experiment i did to know these informations?
How curious are you when you are told something with some incompletion?
Have a great day..

Hi dbu, well one thing I discovered about the rankings in interests today is that the person who sets up an interest, generally ranked number one, can lose their number one spot. I don't like this aspect, I think for an example that as you set up the 'fun with with friends interest' you should remain number one as long as you participate in it. So I was actually annoyed to see today that I was actually number one in an interest set up by a friend as think she should be number one and I am more than happy to remain at number two. It just doesn't feel right to usurpe her rightful position.

If you start a interest, you may be number 1 the most of the time because you are the one who started the discussion in your interest.
Consider my fun with friends interest. Now two of those start their discussions in their discussion and climbed themselves to the top 10 in that interest.
So, if the discussion starter is not active in that particular interest and someone else is more active than them, then the discussion starter surely lose their rankings.
Yesterday too i started the new interest, do you know?
Did you know the info i stated there before i stated?
What about the other questions?
Do you have any curious thing recently? My recent curious is about the god mother
Have a great day.

Sometimes I want to be the last in certain interest. Especially when I didn't know much about that interest. But because that interest started by kyria, I can't stop myself from giving my response to that interest especially when I knew that the interest starter had less knowledge about it too

Well I don't really pay notice to rankings except in the new interests I started and the ones which two friends just started. I didn't know you had started a new interest yesterday and don't know what it is. I noticed you were very high in Greek lifestyle but think mainly just pop in to improve your ranking.
I think one question is enough to answer when you put so many so that's my answer about rankings.
Are you still asking about godmothers? I put a discussion up for you and if you read it it should explain all. There's a lot more information there now than previously.

Hey you are getting too techinical for me because ratings and rankings are beyond my comprehension
I just get in a muddle and I am not particularly noticing any of the interests where Iparticipate as there are far too many of them anyway.
What did shock me in all your facts there is this:
"So, 10,249 members in this interest didn't got any of the ratings (not even a single one) in this interest"
That means that if all those Lotters have not been rated, a heck of a lot of other Lotters are not bothering to rate - how sad. I guess that if they don't earn they don't do things anymore...

I think this is shocking information
It also means that those who appear at the top of the rankings are also thanks to others who do not rate

You just shocked about the unrated members in this interest?
How about this one?
facebook interest:
members : 273921
ranked : 1874
You can see that myLot.com interest is far more better than facebook.

I guess they don't know how to rate?
Do you know? Facebook interest is the biggest interest in the myLot community regarding large number of members joined....
Let me clarify the same too..

Hi hatley,
We all know that ranks donot influence on our earnings. But rank is only for our social satisfaction in our life.
Just want to share my knowledge to others..
Do you know all those info before itself?
Have a great day..

Hi dbutheking,
I never go to that detail here. I knew a few thing but not about the rank. I didn't have any interest in rank except for the football related interest. I know I can hardly get to the top on it so I never bother to know about it.
But to see more then 10,000 members didn't rated in mylot.com interest is a bit surprise. No one rate their post in this interest before and that show a lot of us didn't use rating feature here.

That is what is appalling me most of all in this topic too
I don't rate everyone everywhere but I'm sure I rate everyone at some point and I find it amazing that so many users have not been rated here AT ALL

If you note this, i got the information from your discussion only. Did you recollected it?
Have a great day.

hi!..i wonder how to agree or disagree with you on this one.
yes i did know about this one but it failed to generate interest in me. learning is a time taking process in accordance with your requirements. i look for things that i need to know and give it some time. 'curiosity killed the cat' - no i am not curious and i am comfortable with that..

I don't really take any particular interest in the ranking. I don't really understand what is the fuss about all these rankings. Since you start this off I would like to ask you what does it mean when I am ranked 19 out of 34,165 in people? Am I being rated accordingly here?

Hi zandi,
Yes, you are rated the most in the people. So that you are at the top. It shows that you are most active in that interest.
According to me, the rankings are given the encouragement and satisfaction for us. Yes, it does not influence the earnings.
Have a great day.

YEah, i have known that long long ago.. IT should be common sense i guess, if one were to look at the overall number under different interest.. haha =D
It cant be, the amount of mylot members is so inconsistent, which changes in every interest group right?? haha =D For me, i dun really care about the ranking, and be it high or low, it makes no difference.. For, earnings are not affected, for sure.. haha =D
BUt for some ple, in order to achieve the top spot in certain interest group, they tend to start all sorts of discussions in that group even though it's not related.. lol =D

Hi kun,
Yes, the number of members in the myLot.com is keep on increasing so that the figures i gave in the description might be already changed.
I agree that the rankings doesn't affect our earnings but i guess it is only for the satisfaction of the user to be on the top. That's the way, it encourages us. That's the main reason the myLot have rankings in the every interest.
Hmm.. I guess this is related to myLot.com interest is it?
I want to be at top 100
Have a great day.

I though you never make an experiment for the interest, to get the number the user must be rated ten times by every member. I am curious, if we are not participation for a months then possible have decrease interest? Keep posting and have a good day.

Hi may,
I don't think that you need to be rated 10 times. I had seen some newbies got their rankings straight away after attending my discussions. Even their posts was only below 10 too..
The experiment was, i make my friend to remove the interest and then join the interest. His rank was remains unchanged but the number in the bracket changed. So, i got some conclusion...
If we are not participating, when the others got more positive than you, then you will lose some rankings. But, once you got your rankings, you always have the ranks.
Have a great day,.

Dear dbu,
I like your new avatar, it makes me thinking of Christmas.
You really have an analytical mind, you are a genius.
I have learned a lot from your topic. I was wondering
about this ranking but I pursue no further. You are
different, you take your time and make an effort to
try and get the answer.
Everybody said somebody will do it but at the end nobody do it!
You are the 'somebody' who did it, great job, keep it up!
Have a great weekend :)

Have a great day.

I did not know that, dbu, but that was very helpful. It makes sense as you explained it, but I see that you could understand my confusion as to the numbers and rankings as well. I'm sorry that I corrected you, since I obviously was wrong. I haven't really explored the ratings, rankings, etc., so I shouldn't have commented on it, especially since I know that you do keep track of these things. I hope that no harm was done, as it was just an honest misunderstanding.

Yes, questioning and debate are good things, as long as they are done in a respectful (and sometimes playful) manner.
I don't have a problem admitting and apologizing when I am wrong. As you pointed out, everyone can't be right all the time. I hope you have a wonderful day, too.

Hi purple,
Actually, i am in the idea to start this discussion long ago itself. But i really forget to start you. Thanks to your comments on my response, i now started this discussion.
There was no harm done. I also happy that you commented on me!. I guess you only feel little guilty about your comments. You are always welcome and don't feel anything badly. Everyone need not to know everything. I sometimes may be wrong and you sometimes wrong. So, it is better to spot ourselves and correct it..
Comment on my response anytime you have the doubt. I am happy to explain it...
I hope this information is useful for you....
Have a great day.

Hi Dbutheking,
I think I knew part of this through random exploration or logic. The part where not everyone had ranks was something I knew since I tended to imagine that a member needed over 100 posts to be ranked, even if they were already part of a topic. I know I didn't check my ranks until I had the star. The part at the end where you say that 'you don't need to join an interest to get a rank, but your rank will be less' confused me though. Is that the incomplete information you make a mention of? If it is I am curious to hear more. I tended to imagine you had to be subscribed to the interest to be ranked in it, but then I read in a discussion that if you posted somewhere, but didn't join, you could still be ranked, I didn't know there was a negative ranking effect from not joining though.
Away from that I do like to explore mylot, though I tend to stick the FAQ section, and I haven't done it for a couple of weeks now. When I first joined I was doing lots of research, reading the FAQ and asking the questions of other members on the mylot board mostly.
Nice topic though, it shall be interesting to see if you turn up anything else interesting from your exploration in the future lol!
All the best,
Dranz

You got your rank no matter your number of posts will be. If you can see my discussion even the person with 7 posts got the 17000th rank in the myLot.com interest.
By the way, what i noted is the person who is in the leaderboard all joined that group. May be if we join a group, we got some extra points. But not sure about this statement. Only myLot authorities knows it. I can see the person who gives many comments got less ranks and one who give a two line response got the 2nd rank too.
I got some information regarding myLot as i am also a explorer just like you..
Have a great day. ()

Good for you, looking on all of these. Am not even thinking how do I rank, as long as am highly rated, am happy. If my rating is quite low or no ratings at all, I felt perhaps I did not go directly to the point or not been discriptive that I quite felt sad. I have known that before. The number of members you are mentioning in mylot interest don't refer to actual mylot populations but only to the number of members who joined mylot particular interest. I have also noticed that your rank will go much higher when you started a discussion rather than just responding to a discussion in a given interest.

Hi levite,
Yes, it denotes only the interest members. That's true, if we start the discussions, our rank will go high because many of them has the chance to rate us.

Hi dbutheking, does the ranking really help? I mean are people going to come our discussions based on our rankings, or will it help in higher earnings. I for one never even noticed them till u pointed it out. :( And Thea came to many of my discussions. Do let me know if it has any effects - like - hey - if u dont get to this rank then there is likelihood of mylot admin barring u from posting what u think. LOL.
