Question about the quality of myLot discussion topics...

Hello folks,
I'm brand spanking new here and trying to navigate myself through this site and trying to grasp the concept of myLot.
I don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but I notice what I consider to be an awful lot of "fluff" on these discussion boards. It is as though some posters want to clog the discussion boards with really juvenile "discussions."
Is is just me? Am I making a snap judgement here? I would much prefer a site that had some sort of quality assurance that would inspire thoughtful discussion. But I see a flood of discussions resembling the "do you like ice cream?" variety.
I'll do some more navigating, but I wanted to know if there is some manner to filter out those "discussions" that appear to be nothing more than a race to earn two quick cents! Thanks in advance for any thoughtful guidance you can offer.

Welcome to myLot!
Have you added certain interests so that you see dicussions which would interest you rather than viewing them all? Have you tried the tabs above this dicussions such as 'top' and 'hot'?
Some of the 'fluff' discussions will be deleted as they are reapeats but others will remain as they can be interesting and original and what is 'fluff' to some users might not be to others.
The longer you are here and the more you travel the Lot then you will find where those discussions which you find interesting are placed. I feel it will take time but do not give up as there is such an assortment of discussions that you are bound to find some that you will enjoy. Adding friends that share your same interests could help in finding suitable discussions too.
Happy fun Lotting!

Thanks for your response. I will explore the interest tabs per your suggestion. So true...what is "fluff" to me could be a topic of interest to others.
