My yahoo account was hacked and sent spam to my contacts overnight.

I'm really careful with my account, I always check the address bar etc. when entering my password and what websites I join. But somehow my yahoo account was hacked today and the following message was sent to my friends: 'Dear friend, How are you recently? I bought a laptop from a website: (removed) last week. I have got the product. It's quality is very good and the price is competitive. They also sell phones, TV, psp, motor and so on. By the way, they import product from Korea and sell new and original products. They have good reputation and have many good feedbacks. If you need these products, look at this website will be a clever choice. I am sure you will get many surprise and benefits. Greetings!' I googled the message and it appears that many people on Gmail have had the same problem the last couple of months but no messages from yahoo, so it seems to have spread to there. I've never had a problem in the 2 or so years I've had this email address, so look out and be careful! I've changed my password and I'm hoping it wont happen again, but it appears to have done so to others despite them changing theirs. Has anyone else had this spam message sent from their accounts or have you received it from a friend?

I keep only a few contacts in my list. That could be the reason why I have escaped so far. Maybe the person or persons did not see it worthwhile to use my account. What has happened is that at least one person has been using my email addresses, yes, more than one, for spamming purposes. I knew about it when I started receiving emails from myself, receiving the undelivered spam which I never sent, and receiving angry emails from those spammed. I did contact Yahoo regarding this matter. They said they could not stop it. To think that many people praised Yahoo Mail.

It seems to be happening more and more all the time and no matter what features that put in place to stop it they find away around it. I wish that people would just figure out something more constructive to do with their time than mess with people on the internet. It gets old having to change your passwords and everything else cause someone hacked into your account. I have not had my yahoo hacked into but I did have another email hacked. Its sad to hear that it is now happening on yahoo. Thanks for the warning and I will make sure and watch my account for anything funny going on.

It really does seems to happen more and more. I love the internet, but the more I hear about these things and when it happens to me I suddenly realise how dangerous it is. It is a shame that we cannot enjoy all the internet has to offer without worrying about our safety and the money we could have to fork out to fix viruses etc. I was mainly worried as my Yahoo account is my main one and contains details such as my Paypal login details. I don't know what I would do if I got locked out of my account. Good luck with keeping your accounts safe and thanks for responding! :)

hi dear, i suffered a similar problem and i think that is why i faced a serious problem with my desktop. i suffered with this spam problem and then suddenly it stopped working and i had to finally call a person to repair the thing. it was such a pain and tension for me. this all happened just ten days back. i was really worried about my computer. one year back because of sudden strong lightning and then heavy rain, my desktop as well as laptop, both were gone. it was a sudden lightning so i was not able to disconnect and close and so everything was gone.

safest thing to do when u are using a mail is check your mail first go through them and then only go to rest of the sites. Some sites are able to decrypt the encrypted cookie code for gmail using a perl script
