Contestants who claim they "never saw a single episode"

I was just reading an article saying that Jordan never saw an episode of Big Brother before she was on it. I've heard other contestants say that in the past as well. Do you really buy that? I mean, first off why apply for a show if you never ever watched it? Second, ok so even if you didn't see it before applying, wouldn't you start watching reruns once you found out you were one of the candidates for it?
Let's pick a show I don't watch as comparison. I don't watch Top Chef... so let's say I applied for Top Chef and got to the final round of picks. I would totally rent all the past seasons of Top Chef in preparation. I'd learn all the twists, check out all the dishes they had to make, etc.
So if someone is going on Big Brother, will they seriously not at least watch some of the past seasons just to see what it's all about? Wouldn't you? Do you believe these people who say they "never saw an episode" or do you think they are using it as strategy? Jordan had no real strategy in the house, so it is possible she really didn't know anything about the game, but I can't imagine there would be that many people who would sign up for this without even watching 1 episode. Thoughts?

I understand Jordan did not apply for the show, but was invited to the show. How? I don't know. But I'm sure once she was asked she had to have checked out previous episodes to find out what she was getting into, or at least heard about it from friends.
There are other reality shows people are usually invited to be on, not applying, or at least being deceived as to what the show was about. For example "For Love or Money". They could only do that show once. No one knew when they went into that dating show that there would going to be faced with choosing the girl or choosing the money. I have heard sometimes these casting directors find people in restaurants and bars and ask them if they are interested in being on a reality show. Something like Big Brother they would be open about, but when there is a twist and the show turns out to be something else, then they don't know what they are getting into.

Yeah that makes sense. If she was invited, perhaps at that moment she said "i never watched an episode" and they use that to describer her, but maybe after she was picked she watched some.
For Love or Money, now that was an odd one! I thought they did more than one but did it back to back so that people still didn't know about it. Like the rejected girl got her own show but knew about the money already so the twist was on the guys? I think that's how I remember it.
Well anyone who goes on any reality show has to be prepared for twists. And if they aren't prepared, they shouldn't sign up for it. It actually kind of sucks to think of people being invited onto a reality show b/c that means that viewers who are actually DYING to be on the show are overlooked! I know they do it to try and draw in viewers, but really I can't imagine they can't find 13 people out of the applicants that would work.
Thanks for sharing!

I think shows like Big Brother does have to do certain searches when they have themes like the twins, the exes, the hated former friend or family member, etc. Kevin said he had been applying since season one. I wonder if that's because they seemed to only have one gay person a season, except when they were playing matchmaker that one season. I don't want to sound racist or prejudice or whatever, I'm just saying they always seem to have one gay person, one African-American person, one ditzy blonde, one odd ball... My favourite season was the twins.
My memory isn't so good, but four seasons of For Love Or Money? Wow! I remember wondering whether it would come back and thinking they couldn't do it again because people will know the show by the host. Why don't they just change hosts?

The casting director likes to have people who have never watched the show before. Not everyone on BB applied some were recruited. Jordan herself was recruited by BB she never applied.
And she did say when she found out they wanted her she did go to youtube and start watching some of the episodes.
I know this because I heard Evel D talking about it while I was watching his interviews with the HG's yesterday.

Yeah well having someone who isn't a fan WIN it all shows that you don't have to analyze the episodes in order to win. Actually it may be that mega fans have less chance at winning b/c they try to hard.
I did see a pic of Evel and Lydia on the BB website. She's a little young for him :) I will look those up this weekend. Thanks!

I could see how many fans would think that way. And I guess if I was able to apply and didn't get it because they recruited someone I might think that way too. I donno I am just different I guess and I like the idea of someone outside the box come in and play a whole different way then we have seen and actually win it.

Nat just bragged the whole time about how good she was. Kevin was still trying to figure out what went wrong. Jeff was cool as always,Jordan was star struck. I think Evel wanted to take Lydia home with him. Ronnie was a dork lol. And Russell put Jordan down the whole time.
I think it is fair in a way because it mixes up the house so not everyone in ther knows the ins and outs.

I think that she had to have seen the show. Even if Jordan was invited on the show, someone must have signed her up. I dont think that they just pick someone out of the blue to invite on the show.
So....even if someone did get Jordan on the show, I am almost positive that she would have had to have watched some of the episodes before going into the house.
She is ditzy, but not so ditzy that she wouldn't check out what she was getting into.
