Has your child had a sleep over?

How old was your child when they first spent the night at a friend's house, or had a friend spend the night at your house?
My oldest is 12 and he's never had a sleep over with a friend. He's talked about it once or twice, but it never happened. I thought maybe it was a boy thing, and figured my daughter would soon be asking about sleep overs. She's almost 7 and hasn't asked yet. I know I was in first grade when I had my first sleep over, and I had them often! Have times changed or are my kids just not as into sleep overs as I was?

I don't think it is the same for our kids as it was when we were kids. I was always wanting to sleep over at my friends houses. None of mine have ever bothered with it, and they do not seem to bother much about having friends either, for me friends were what my world revolved around but my children just do not seem to worry about it and do not have any really close friends. Mind you, from my own experience of having friends where I live I can honestly say that it might not be a bad thing!

I used to sleep over at friends houses all the time when I was a kid, but so far my 9 year old has never slept over anywhere other than with family. He asked to sleep over at a friends house once, but it was a weekend that we went out of town, so it did not happen. He has not asked since.

I think it depends on the parents. Not as many allow sleepovers anymore because they are too busy to deal with it. My oldest had her first sleepover at 6. Her preschool teaching assistant had a daughter in her class and she invited her. She has been over a few times since then and has had 2 or 3 over here. I don't think boys do it as much as girls do. I spent tons of nights at my best friends house. I miss those days. I keep trying to talk friends into doing it now. Think how good that would feel to have a sleepover and spend the night talking like you used to do when you were younger. :)

Dearra was probably 7 or 8, Naomi about the same. Cary hasn't had a sleepover yet. Funny, I don't recall having any sleepovers myself. Maybe it was so dang long ago that I just don't remember any more!

Three of my children usually stayed the night with a friend around about the age of 7. I figure that is a decent age to have a sleep over. I think that times have changed a little and kids are not really into sleep overs as much now days.
