I need braces and I'm a little scared about how much it will hurt and how much it will cost. Did you ever have braces? What was your experience like? How long did you have them? My teeth arent really that bad but they definately need braces. I want clear braces like the ones in this picture. You cant even tell the braces are there barely. They are clearish because I cant afford invisiline I think since I'm hearing they are around 5,000. How old were you when you had them? Did your insurence pay any on them?

I had them in their full metal glory, but at least my bands were clear. My classmates opted for neon colored ones (this was back in the early '90s, lol). It was very uncomfortable and painful at first. The brackets kept on coming off and I had to have a soft diet, lol. I also had sores in my mouth because of the friction. You get used to it after a little while. :)

I got braces when I was a child. I want to say I was in my early teens? Since I was a child my parents paid for them. I don't know if our insurance covered any of them or not, but from what I remember, I don't think they did. It really all depends on your insurance company and plan, etc. They can be painful. I mean the braces ARE moving your teeth! What I remember most is having a sore mouth. I had an expander in my mouth which expanded my jaw and well that was painful too. So some of it has to do with what all you have to get. There may be some pain involved and well they are expensive but I will tell you what - they're so worth it! I would never regret getting braces. Good luck to you :-)

Hey, Yea I have had braces and they were quite good after they were taken off my teeth. Now my teeth are perfectly straight, so I am very happy. No, my parents had to pay for my braces which cost a few thousand, we had no insurance or any health cover. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Oh yeah I had braces too. I had them almost for 3 complete years. That was because the doctor who treated me was not so good and had to switch the doctor which made me start the process again from the begining. Now I have everything fine and nobody can say that I ever had braces. Because I had my braces in India it was less expensive there. When I checked in US they said I have to pay 2K dollars for cleaning my teeth and for putting retainer.

Yeah I had braces when I was around 14. I had somewhat crooked lower teeth so I had those straightened out. I however had metal braces it wasn't really bad since everyone who used braces had metal ones. It cost me around $600 but this was way back then. And I don't think insurance covers dental I think..

I had braces when I was thirteen years old, but my teeth were not all that bad. I think I had them on for around six months and they were not fun to clean. I had to go to the dentist every few weeks to tighten it up and they use to hurt for a couple of days after that. Sometimes your teeth start to shake and it feels like they will fall out. Other than that it was all smooth. Good luck with your braces.

I never have a braces in my teenage years because my parents can't afford it. I can't afford it up to now because it is very expensive and not practical. I also envy to those who have align teeth my mother and youngest sister have a good set of teeth only me and my sister inherited the crooked teeth of our father.

In Denmark the government pays for the braces if it is recomended by the dentist, so you dont need a specific insurance to cover it. But if the dentist does not recomend it as needed, you would have to pay it all yourself though. I never had braces, and my teeth are well located, but not perfect. One of my friends got braces and she just had the most perfect aligned teeth afterwards, i remember beeing so jealous.

i had pretty bad teeth since the second set kicked in (see the simpson's 'big book of british smiles') but got braces at 27 because i was living in south america and lots of older people were getting them. and it was relatively cheap. i think you can get basic braces on the nhs (which won't apply to you) but clear ones will cost you.

I never need one since I have a good teeth. I was always told by my dentist that I was gifted with good set of teeth. It was a good thing that they are in perfect shape. All I need to do is to take care of it.

I had braces when I was in 6th grade. I was about 13 years old and had them for one and a half years. It was not bad at all. The hard part was brushing my teeth because a lot of food got stuck in my braces. All in all, it is not as bad as you would thin. It was not painful by any means, and I had them much shorter than most people who average 2 years.

Yeah, I definitely had braces. I wouldn't say they hurt, but the first day back to school after I got them, I spoke funny and everyone laughed at me. Also, the wires have a tendency to be REALLY pokey if your teeth shift too fast and they don't clip them off well. And when I say pokey, I mean stab-holes-in-your-mouth pokey. I definitely thought the weirdest feeling was getting them off. Cos your teeth feel all slimy and ewwwww cos you've had these metal things on them for so long. Also, the adhesive used to glue on the brackets tastes like spew. :P

I never had braces, my teeth are okay, but my sis has one... The first week for her was agonizing, she couldn't eat and sleep well. I think she had her braces removed after a year and a half.
