Hi yugasini - personally I dont fear god! I feel he is constantly around me, so I dont really need to go to the temple. But I do. There is something about the temple environment that makes me feel really good. It is not only temple, I feel the same at church, and other holy shrines as well. I think we condition our minds to think that god lives there, and so when we go there, we start feeling what we should be feeling even without going there. I am like u in some ways. I have bribed my way at Tirupati. So I have no faith in priests and if the priests themselves are resorting to such things, obviously, the faith does take a beating. And if they dont fear god after doing that, why should I? I dont trust priests because I have yet to meet the really enlightened one who could clear my doubts instead of just rattling some mumbo jumbo, which I dont even know whether they are pronouncing correctly. Yes, humanity is the ultimate for me. When I am being taken away by flashfloods, I am hardly going to risk life identifying which person from which religion or community is trying to help me when the hands are extended. I think I have given enough to gods when I was naive. :) I too think if u can spare something, help the really helpless, like somebody who is mentally challenged, or people rendered homeless due to floods, or earthquakes.

I'm sorry but im having a hard time understanding what you're trying to say but I kind of get it anyway. I think going to church and offering gifts to God does not really guarantee you getting what you ask for, be it money, luxuries, or food, but this things can help you to get a favor from God. I'm seen a lot of people who don't go to churches and is very rich and seems to have everything they ask out of life. I believe it's really how the person thinks and how much fate he has on what he thinks. If he believe in himself that he's going to be rich then he will be rich for as long as he holds on to what he believes. We dont actually have to fear God because God is just there to give to us whatever we ask out of life, for as long we believe we can have it as well as making sure to ourself that we dont wan't it to hurt other people.

for me fear of god is on top priority. i believe that hell and heven is there only on this earth, what ever we do, we get the same fruit here only. for me if i do good with some one i start finding good result, or as i start doing cheating with some one same i get in return. let me share with you my good experience as i claimed more convence rembursment thn what happened exactly. i start feeling i am wasting my money on wrong things which is not at all required to do expence on .

material things are only here. you can not bring it to heaven when you die. that is what i believe in. no offense also to what i will say to other religions. my belief is, no religion can save you from hell except your faith in God. i feel all religions are good. it spreads the good news and the Words of God in the bible. it is up to the person to be good, follow His commandments and be beautiful in the eyes of God. a person will find peace when he finds goodness in his heart to share to anyone he encounters.

When we go to religious places, we normally think of God, good things and usually keep away unwanted thoughts and deeds apart. So these positive and good thoughts by many people, will create positive vibrations in that holy place. That is why you feel calm and peaceful there. I agree we have to meet our debits and credits in life as per our acts, whether in this birth or earlier birth. But praying God will reduce the suffering and give you courage to face them. Sathya Sai Baba once said, you have to carry hundred rupees in hand. If you pray God, he will make you carry one hundred rupee note instead of hundred rupees worth coins, which is heavy. Ultimately you are carrying Rupees hundred only i.e. you face your fate but with less weight here and less suffering in your life.

i do not fear God, i respect God. fear cannot instill the ability to identify good and bad. you learn more from the one you respect, not fear. i also do not find myself capable to offer anything to God, neither cash nor sweets. i pity those who think they can make offerings to God in return for favors. i believe in karma, 'what you sow is what you will reap'. i believe that everyone is equal and deserve respect. i do not do anything that i do not wish to be done with.
