I hate entertaining calls when i have lots in my hands. specially when i am not expecting a very important call. even if i know if will be my family calling. i will not just answer the phone. i will just continue with what i am doing at home and finish first what i am doing. specially i k now why they are calling and most probably i will just listen to the same thing they had said before. sometimes i just turn off the sound of the phone so i won't get disturbed but i make sure i turn it on again when i am done with what i am doing. cause before i forget to turn on the sound again for few days.
but i do read text from time to time even if i am busy but at least i just read them and don't need to reply if i am busy. i can make excuses why i was not able to reply back fast.

Hmmm. well, it really depends on the person that's calling.. when it's family or my boyfriend, I usually answer it cause they don't call unless it's very important.. they text me if they need something, but when they call, it means that they have something to say that's important or there is an emergency somewhere... when it's my friends and I'm really busy, I just let the phone ring, and then text them when I'm not busy to ask why they called, and why I didn't answer their call.

my family calls every day. many times in a day. so it is alright for me to mute the phone cause i know they will keep calling again. most calls are from credit card companies, bills, and etc. not much personal calls do i receive so i don't really bother to answer them that often.

yeah i used to be very obedient child. like i answer it promptly when they call. like i was shaking and worried if i don't get to answer their calls promptly . cause they are my family. ha ha. anyways, after getting older. i feel like this is not what family should be like. i should be not shouted at smallest mistakes. now i just do ignore them intentionally to make them feel i am busy too and not every time that i will just come out running to the phone to answer it. ha ha. they now understand that i have my life too. i am my parent's child. and their family. but our relationship should not always be like that. we should also be friends that learn to help and respect which we don't have in our family. ha ha. seems i got too personal.

if my family is like that I wouldn't be answering their calls either. lol. I don't answer calls from credit card companies, cause honestly, they are just pain in the a*s.. no matter how many times you say that you don't need one, they would still make you get one, and sometimes they just send you one.. I mean, how the hell did they get my personal info right?! I just hate them. hehe.

but usually when i will pick up the phone and say to call later they will keep me on the phone and saying it will be short but the conversation will drag on for a few more minutes and so i avoid answering the phone.

I do not have a tendency of ignoring phone calls when I am busy at home. But that is because I am not usually in a hurry. I figure, I can always take a break, and then get back to what I am doing after the conversation.
Of course, I don't get that many phone calls either. Everyone knows that I have a limited number of minutes on my phone during the day, so they usually wait until the evening to call me. And then, from time to time I might ignore the call, or sometimes I might not even hear it. That is, if I am out to dinner, or at a club. Even if my ringer is turned on, the music might just be too loud to hear my phone ring.
And of course, there are the times when the phone is in my pocket and the ringer gets switched over to silent mode. People always think that I am ignoring them, but I guess the buttons just get pushed as I am walking. LOL

good that you have no problem with people who are calling you so that you don't avoid answering the phones.

at least you still to talk them briefly and politely. sometimes when a caller is irritating me a lot i do talk impolitely so they won't call back again.

i hate people who keep calling. either mostly asking favor or just selling some stuffs. if i can just change number without worrying that i will miss important calls from important people i would have done so. why is it that most people that call are those that are not welcome to call me. but of course i try to act civil and try to act nice and etc.

As much as possible, I do not entertain call when I am busy. When I am busy that means I am conducting a training with my programs. So often when I do that, I keep my phone silent so as not to disturb myself as well as my training participants. I do check my missed calls and messages during the break.

Hi, hotsummer. That is how I am too. If I am busy and tied up, I will just let my phone ring. Especially, when I know that the person(s) are just calling just to be nosy. I don't like to be disturbed when I am washing dishes and when I am in the middle of cooking.

The ignore feature on my phone is my best friend. People call during work hours, while you are driving, sleeping, all times. Let me tell you, I will even put my 16 year old on ignore. I wish I could ignore her texts. LOL I can't even read them when I'm driving. I told her if she didn't get a text from me right away, don't keep texting cause obviously I can't respond because of driving, working on another call or whatever. Does this stop her? NO.
If I'm expecting an important call, I ignore everyone else. But I only have a hand full of friends too probably because I ignore everyone's call. LOL

yes that is true. at least you know or discovered the ignore feature of the phone. some people just want someone to text with so they bother every people on their contact list. cause they want their phone to keep on ringing and beeping or making the message alert sound so that they will look that their friends miss them a lot. LOL.

I do get calls when I don't expect them, and yes, I do get calls when my arms ar loaded and I have to put them down to answer it. It is so annoying too, but I can't blame the person that is calling me as they would have no way of knowing that my arms are loaded. They certainly can't see me. Most of the time though, I don't have that problem, and I am glad for that. Usually my daughter will text me and I just tell her that I can't text right now, and I will text her when I get home. I am certainly not going to text while I m driving, as that would be insane. I know people do, but i won't. I am not that crazy. Have a good day, and happy mylotting.

When I am busy, I also do like what you are doing, I put the phone on mute stage. When I am busy, I do not think that I will be able to entertain anyone, not even family, unless it is really emergency. There are things that I want to do that even a phone call is hardly possible. I do not see anything wrong with doing the thing that needs to be done first than answering any phone call.

yeah , even in our messenger we put now the busy status so others won't disturb us and to let them that we are really busy and we mean it. but i still buzz them though despite it. and let them decide if they will reply or not. i don't go online much cause i don't people to buzz me when i am busy. i just log in my messenger when i am ready to entertain calls on messenger or chat messages.

I find it difficult to answer calls when I am on the run.. I only answer important calls or from close people. Sometimes I use the head set and put phone in the pocket and work...It can be a little distracting sometimes.

i think cellphones are so good now that we can choose which ones to answer like auto answer the calls on our list. i don't know if we can choose those who can auto call or not. but i guess it is already on the feature of cell phone.

Here Hutison provides one option of choosing people from our contacts for being in touch. A good filtering system. But it comes for a price ie they charge more than twice per a call derouted compared to one outgoing call you make!!!
I did it once, and almost fainted while I saw my bill hi hi

Hi hotsummer! Same here. I don't like taking calls when I'm busy. I'm good at multi-tasking though except when the other task involves phone conversation. I just can't concentrate when somebody else is talking to me and I'm doing something else especially if it's important. Another reason is that I don't wanna lose momentum on my work because of a phone call. I make sure I finish it first before I pick-up the call. I do give a call-back or text when I fail to answer it, for the sake of courtesy to the caller :)

Yeah i entertain calls even im busy in this way the people will not find me rude, and it's always good to have a good reputation in your friends, family etc... You may not know the person who is calling you may have an emergency so better accept the call even if you are busy.

I have an answering machine and caller ID as well. These two little features make it perfect to screen calls. If I'm busy, I only will pick up if it is one of my kids or someone that I'm pretty sure has some important reason for calling me. If I have company, I usually don't answer the phone either simply because I think it is rude to have them sitting there while I'm visiting someone else on the phone. My friends all know me and know that I'm not real big on sitting around chatting on the phone.

hi hotsummer!
yes, i always answer the phone even if i am busy. we are in the social service and business kind of work. so, every call means life... business. it is just proper to respond to them and let them feel how important they are as our customer. we always want to deliver an excellent customer service even through phone. phone interaction is very important. it can make or break the organization/the business.
yes, i am busy but what is 2 minutes to alot for a call. you can always have anice way of ending a call and consider it also as a break from your so toxic and busy with whatever you are in to. cheers!

i always make time for calls even if i am busy. i have a feeling that calls are urgent because had these not been made, they would have sent me a text message instead. i do not want to miss any call. if i am really really busy, i answer the call and tell them that i will get back to them as soon as i am free.

Hi hotsummer, well yah i do that all the time.lol I mean if I keep answering my phone when I'm too busy doing something then I'll just never get to finish it. Sometimes even if they're family, they could be insensitive. Like even if they knew you were busy or even if they knew you were in a hurry, they would just keep on talking and talking about things that could actually wait..
