If someone tells you to shut up, what would you do?

I just remembered the incident last night as my friend and I were playing online Poker in Facebook. We were on the same table, so I decided to ask him about our agenda for the next day (we were "looking-for-work"mates) through the chatbox in the room. Suddenly, out of nowhere, one of the players told us to shut up (in our dialect too). I was appalled as to the way that person told us to, as it was sooo rude. If I translate what that person told us it would be like "Shut the f* up!!" It was chat for goodness sake! As if we were making any noise. If you were in my position, what would you do?

there are lots of pranksters on the internet especially in chat rooms. first these people are attention seekers, getting bored and has problem with public relations. the best way is to report them to the moderators so they can do something about it, like being kick off of the room. i don't suggest replying to them because it's what they want, to get your attention. the more you accept that there are weird people, the more you'll get used to it. what are their language? i already have it in mind :-)

i was right...it was a Filipino who sent the bad message. it's easy to detect your kababayan's behavior. i also encountered pinoys who disturbs chat rooms by sending annoying messages to prove how good they are.

I'm Filipino, and she was also Filipino. Funny thing was, the people online also laughed at her!! My friend and I merely replied like we were amused with her, as to p*ss her off. Hahaha!! What language did you have in mind? ahahaha

I'm sorry for that. But not all Filipinos act that way :) There are just people who like attention. Attention seekers, ugh. Hahahaha. It doesn't matter what language one speaks, some people just want others' attention to be drawn to themselves. :)

I would believe someone pissed in his cheerios. There are alot of people that say shut-up when they want confirming of what was actually said. I do not think this was the case. I do not take to lightly to someone cussing at me either. I would probably ask who the h-ll he thought he was talking too, and if he had a problem with me chatting to go to another room.

Winning all her money was a good pay back. Good for you.

The other players on the same table were also laughing too. I just found it so outrageous as to the way she (now I remember, the person was a she) said it. Like duh, people are easy to talk to. She transferred to another table as I had the winning streak (I won all her money as she went all in, thinking I was bluffing).

Just ignore the person. Such idiots usually type such nonsense and go away. If they are too persistent and turning into a real pain then one can report the person.

Dear aixshaonline, That person is very rude. How can she asked you and your friend to 'SHUT UP' out of nowhere and for no reason behind it. If I were you, I will just ignore that person and carry on with my jobs/game. No point to quarrel with this kind of person. If I really make a mistake, I prefer a person tell me directly rather that told me to 'shut up'.

that would be my cue to do anything but shut up. Even if I was about to shut down or shut up....a statement such as that would surely re-energize me. I would not respond to the person but I would definitly extend my conversation much longer.

Hearing or should I say reading it online pose different reaction in real life situation. If I heard that on a chat room probably I will ignore it and continue whatever I'm doing. But when hearing that up front in person then it's a different story.

I play poker stars.. and I like to chat with other people... and once and a great while I come across some jerk that is like that... I just tell them who made them the boss. And the fact that no one can make me do that... eventually the person either leaves or just keeps their comments to themselves.. I agree it is very rude.. Second of all its not like you are talking with voice chat.. and even if that was the case.. the person could just turn the sound off.. I do not think it right for one person to dictate what goes on...

Oh wow. It seems that he has lost concentration because you two were talking. Well then maybe you could have retorted that you were just talking and he could have said it nicely. Some people really have a way of saying things to people. Some people are just rude.

probably the reason he said aixshaon it's because that player is probably loosing, and must have told not just you two to Sh*t up. i bet that player in face went a-wall after loosing to that poker game. well, we would just ignore him, most specially if they're playing poker, probably just asking for an attention

Well, it was very rude of him to tell you that. You have also your mistake for chatting publicly. The person should have ask you in a nice way to chat somewhere else. It would be more understandable and agreeable. Well, I guess that person was being a jerk for not minding his own business. He is a loser for that. If I was in your place I would have trace that person whoever that was and confront him and clarify his action if his intention is really that bad or was he just playing around. Happy mylotting.

I think its rude first of all when people say shut up. I don't know I was brought up to never tell someone to shut up but to be quiet. It wasn't even right that the person told you to shut up as you have said because first of all there is no noise and second of all its a chat. Plus they don't even know you. If they were being bothered by you they should have either asked nicely or left out of the chat. If that were me I would just ignore them, if I were in the chatroom and continue to talk because they are not the boss of the chatroom. I think in any situation were I don't know the person I'll ignore but if I know the person, i'd be like excuse me or don't tell me to shut up. That's just me. But oh well. Its just rude though for people to say that is my opinion.

I'm actually REALLY easy to talk to, and it just struck a nerve when she suddenly butted in my conversation with a friend. Duh, can't you see we're talking about something here? ahahaha.. My friend was offline in the main page of Facebook, but he was online in Poker, so that's the only venue where we could talk.

Hi aixshaonline, hahaha that was so weird. Is he having a bad day or what??? And you really got a point there, it's not like you were making noises.lol That was so funny, I mean it was irritating but if you come to think of it, it's like this guy has no brain at all. And I really admire you for not stooping down to his level, cause if I was in your place, I might have lost my temper and started getting back to him.haha
