We are awake ... or are we?

Is there an easy procedure for progressive awakening? Is it safe?
"Your vision will become clear
Only when you look into your heart.
Who looks outside, dreams.
Who looks inside, awakens." - Carl Jung
We may find ourselves unable to do things we wish we could do,
or unable to do things rightfully expected from us.
What do you think of Carl Jung's suggestion?

What Jung said has the following meaning:
Your vision will become clear when you look into your heart=The real you is your Soul who knows EVERYTHING or it can know anything with a very high speed.
Who looks outside dreams= who is opened only to the external world, to the world of forms will live a limited and small reality created by himself. Life is often called by a lot of thinkers and spiritual masters as the dream of the consciousness experimenting itself.
Who looks inside awakens= inside us there's the gateway to our soul, the real self, and the one who pass through that gate awakens and see the complete truth and the 'real reality '. In other words: to unplug your consciousness from your mind.

I would. But maybe we should discuss the cause and not the effect. Ultimately the cause is our mind which is very powerfull. But the mind is not working by itself as the consciousness do. The mind needs patterns... maybe a better word is programs for any action the mind coordinates. Aren't we programed, like a computer? By parents, school, friends, church, TV, society, and last but not least by ourselves. Our programming operation begins at birth and never ends. So, in order to change something in what we think or what we do , we need first a re-programming of some pieces of software inside our brain. It sounds as a big deal but it is so simple. All we need is intention and the reprogramming begins. Intention to meet our real self.

thanks Dmercedes for your comment and insightful question ...
It seems in the usual sense, I am awake right now, for instance since I am awake and typing.
Even old people are trying to understand Carl Jung, who btw is a peer(?) of Sigmund Freud - a guru of psychology.
Carl's concept is something like: "the human mind has so much potential that if we do not seek to understand our own mind, we may lose so much opportunity."
For instance, there is a saying (like): "one may live as if nothing is a miracle, another may live as if everything is a miracle"
From our own perception, we choose how we want to feel ... and so if we are awake enough, we will choose the right path ... and everything will be hopeful, there will be more patience and there will be a chance to right the wrong and build long-term solutions ...
Something like that.
What do you think?

I think that that is one way of looking at it, the thing about this question is that it's open to a lot of interpretation, and the interpretation a person gives depends entirely on the persons life experiences, religious influences, and personal beliefs. I do agree, it depends on how you look at it.

I'm not an expert on progressive awakening .What the great psychologist must have meant was the person who looks to external source lives in dreams.whereas a person who looks into the heart of the other will clearly see the world as it is.The person who realizes his internal self or looks inward can achieve a lot as he is awake to the opportunities around him.It is said that there is a giant in each of us which if awakened can lead us to glory.

Thanks so much for the insights Picjim.
Perhaps the habits that make us what we are works for us and even on other occasions work against.
Perhaps we all see what we need to see, in much the same way as we know what needs to be known.
But not every one would be given the critical emotional attachment
needed to follow through what must be done about it.
What do you think?

I don't know about what carl Jung, but it reminded me of two complete different scenarios. One is from the Outer Limits the illusion spiders, a old space crashes into a live-form planet and get in trouble with the bugs, and when they got bitten, they get into these delusions, until they are completely consumed by the spider, in the end the last survivor got away with the escape pod...Not...he was still in another level of illusion, and the real thing is that the spider is almost done webbing him.. then, the second part would be the matrix, well you already know that i think..
