Hi, everyone! I am going to start a sensitive discussion and I realize that it will affect my star rating, but I still decided to go for it.
When a discussion is as old as one year receives a new response, it will be auto re-activated and appeared in recent discussion, am I right?! A few weeks ago, I stumbled into an interesting topic. So as usual, before I respond to a certain discussion, I will go through all the other comments. To my surprise, I saw the last comment was quite similar to the second last, which was responded a year ago. I noticed that the user went and copied the response by adding only a few sentences or words of his own. So, out of curiosity, I checked his profile and activities, and guess what?! I found one more discussion he responded to by copying another old response. I thought it was so unfair and I reported it. Then, two days ago while I was going through some recent discussion, I once again saw the same user did the same thing! I reported it again. Some might hate me for doing this, but I don't want to close one eye and pretended not to notice about it. I really can't tolerate this kind of people who play dirty.

I recently engaged in a discussion which I subsequently realised was just pasted from a random article since the discussion-starter then just spammed every response with the same lengthy reply - when I pointed this out, he accused me of attacking him and being 'wild' even said some extremely racist remarks even without knowing my race(??!!). It was just about then that I realised his grasp of English was so poor, he wouldn't even have understood my response anyway so he was just saying things at random.
Go for it, I have reported loads of posts lately mostly for posting referral links and am pleased to say they were all removed

Funnily enough the discussion in question seems to have been removed I had a feeling that if I pointed out to admin the accusation (that I must be of African origin to be so rude) they would have no choice but to remove it...
Admittedly a bit petty of me to get the discussion removed on such a random point (me being thoroughly white with traceable British heritage going back at least 900 years), but I was flabbergasted that someone could say something so inappropriate even if wildly inaccurate...
So this proves the point once more, that if you see something which is distasteful, report it and the chances are that it will be removed... I must say though that I have not seen many comments quite as blatantly offensive as this, and quite honestly laughed out loud (there should be an emoticon for that..) when I saw it....
The fact is that this sort of racism is prevalent in some cultures, but if folks from these places want to come and play in MyLot, they will have to take a good long look at their prejudices and adjust their stance accordingly.

I think it should be removed because of the wild accusations as put it. Those racists, cheaters and all sorts of negative impacts are not welcome in this community. I just try to check on one of the discussions whether it has been removed or not, but, you won't believe me if I tell you the user was copying his 1 month old response and posted it 6 days ago!

Maybe he was thinking that nobody would care what he has been doing until you pointed it out and he felt you're a threat to his cheating activity, but racist?? What a ridiculous remarks! It has nothing to do with race and yet he accused you blindly. So, is this person still around?? Well, thanks for the response, Livewyre. I really appreciate it.

I salute you for doing that! We are all here to give our own comments about certain topics. We may all have the same ideas but I doubt if either some of us will exactly write something really similar like the others. In that case it was just pure plagiarism. Mylot is rewarding us on our hard work by means of compensation. How can other people accept that reward when he know in himself that he doesn't deserve it. There's no room for cheaters here. As what you have said, Mind Your Own Business!

Hi, Ldel0318! Yes, cheaters are not welcome here. This place is monitored closely as besides our participation in the discussions and other activities, we have to play fair and square to maintain this site. I agree with you, sometimes, we do have the same ideas, but the way we deliver our responses will always be different. However, this user was clearly copying the exact words, sentences by sentences. He's stealing other people's work and he should have known that he's risking his account! So, he deserved to be reported, but not rewarded!

Go for it! We should always go hand in hand in making mylot as one of the best sites. All serious mylotters would surely support you.

Hi corrycrystal,
I have been a member of this site now nearly about for one year and though i enjoyed this site a lot in beginning but now i feel that not many topics of interest are here for me. So i have been quite inactive but i am really surprised to know what people are doing here. They are just coping and pasting works of others is definitely not allowed and you did quite a good work by reporting that. it is so easy to kill a site like this and we dont want this ..do we? So it is basically you are minding your own business and also our business. this is something what i would call wonderful job. Btw what happened to that member..did mylot banned him or just deleted his discussions or did nothing?

Hi, Agrim94! Thanks. I will try to contribute in any way I can to help to maintain the quality of this site. I am not sure though what happened to his account, but the discussions have not been removed yet.

Dear corrycrystal,
MYOB .... err?? Oh, Mind Your Own Business! (I thought it
was an accounting programme)...
You are fantastic, you can track down the myLotter.
I will glance through the responses, but not really
bother whether they copy or not because I normally
mind my own business. Even in real world, where I work
previously, plenty of politics...I normally do not get
myself involved!
Personally, since I am at 500 post, I am allowed to 'copy
& paste', if I stumble another topic similar to previously
I responded. I will 'copy&paste' but will edit accordingly
as per the topic requested. In this case I do not think I
am cheating as it is my own previous response with my own
lenghty personal experiences. I am 'blur' now as I read
somewhere that myLot won't pay for the responses..that's
mean no earnings!
Cheers and take care!

Hi, Irene! Yeah, it was 'Mind Your Own Business', sorry for the confusion... Actually, I did not purposely mean to track down this user, but I have stumbled across a discussion he responded to and I was merely trying to find out if there was an error. However, it wasn't, as he did copy and paste other responses from other users especially old responses like one year old to make them as if his own.
I respect your choice to mind your own business, but sometimes, we do not realize that we have been taken advantage of. I don't think you are cheating either if you modify or edit some of your own responses because they are indeed your personal experiences that could not be changed and sometimes you need to explain the same thing to the various comments you are receiving. I think it will only affect your earnings if you copy and paste exactly the same response. Anyway, you too, take care and Happy Holiday!

Dear corrycrystal,
Thanks for your prompt comment. I am glad you understand
what I meant. It is very true, especially the topic on how
to save water. I actually typed 5 lengthy paragraphs on the
methods how I save water for environmental purposes. So, if
I came across the same topic on how to save water, I will
'copy & paste' it and explained it accordingly. I typed the
original set and really checked through for the correct
words and spelling, I prefer to copy and paste it, this can
avoid my typo errors that frequently happen to me. My Firefox
page can't check for wrong spelling even though I had activiated
it...
All the best and take care :)

It is understandable, but it is also advisable to edit or modify your response a bit otherwise it will be seen as spamming. That is what I think...

I personally think it is very wrong of the said person to just copy and paste the comments that they are making, and if I saw that it was something that they did on a regular basis, I believe that I would report them as well. However, I don't think that I would report them repeatedly for doing the same thing. I think reporting one time should be sufficient.
It has never even crossed my mind to copy what other people say in their comment. This site is about what we think and what our opinions are, not saying the same thing as the person above us. By doing that, the individual that you are referring to is just trying to take the easy road. And, the easy road is not right.

Hi, Dorannmwin! Yes, this person is taking the easy road, but I do not know how many times he has been doing this. I only came across a few. I am quite sure that if I did not report it, other users might, but I will take your words to report only once when I ever encounter this kind of things again. I was so annoyed at that time when seeing him posting the exact similar response. Does he ever think that what will he do if he finds out his work is being plagiarized?? If yes, then, he must also know what the consequences are for his own doing.

I think in this case you were right in reporting that person. Plagiarism is just not cool, whether in writing books or even just forums. That was just unprofessional of him to plagiarize. I think he should be investigated and banned if he is doing that. Like you I would have reported him if I caught him doing that. We should definitely help police our own ranks to maintain the quality of this site. Maybe the admin is still investigating and so he has not been banned yet (you know, due process and all).

Oh, he is definitely should be investigated. I am not here to find faults, but plagiarism is just so wrong. I think it is just a matter of time before his account is being banned or suspended. I thought that he has only copied a few discussions, but when I went through again the discussions he has replied, there were many of them!

my goodness i really cant figure a reason for all that. wouldnt it be just as fast and easy to just type out what you think then to go back through old discussions, find a good answer, then copy paste? thats makes no sense to me. i think it would save more time just to go ahead and type it out from your own veiw. maybe im not understanding here. i do have a tendency to get confused i really dont care to waste my time reporting people unless they are deliberately picking on me either. im here to have fun, make money, and discuss. thats all.

Hi! Nice to have you here. It will much easier, sincere and original if we type out from our own experiences and point of view. What he did was plagiarism and he did not deserve to earn from copying other people's work. Who knows he has been copying or will copy your responses or mine in future... Just want to prevent that from happening because it won't be fun anymore.
