With the way that the society is always on the go,it got me to thinking. Which one is used more often,Desktop or laptop...I have a laptop that is my main computer. I had purchased it about a year ago for certain reasons and it has ended up being my main computer since then. So my question to you is which one is your main computer. The Desktop Computer or The Laptop Computer?

Don't be hard on yourself. When it comes to the tech part of a computer than I am lost. You didn't know and that is it. You can't go back and change things. You will be able to get it fixed real soon..Im gonna send a cyber hug to her...LOL

Hello my friend
Thank you
Yes I miss her so much, I let my sister use it for a little while, and she did this to her, I asked her what happened she say it does not work, I told her the only this will happen is if you did something to it, when I left her with you she working fine, her attitude about it really makes me mad, I know she is irresponsible but I didn't think it was right to have the computer just sitting there, so nice/stupid me hooked it up, if only I can go back to that moment, if only.
Thanks my friend, now she is just sitting her, looking all pretty and sick, grrr, I will have someone look at it as soon as I am financially able, take this as a lesson no matter who, don't share things that mean alot to you with others they will not treat like you would, sad but true.

hi rose.
I long been dreaming to own a laptop but even a desktop, I still have none at home. I mostly use my mobile phone to surf the net, login to mylot and post, and also do my other online business.
It's my phone at night and whole day on weekends. But it's my office desktop whenever there is work. I hope one day I already have a system at home, a desktop will do but laptop will be better.

Hi neildc...How are you today?
I couldn't go without a computer. I don't have that kind of phone and really never wanted one like that. I guess maybe I just not into the the modern technology. LOL
I can't wait until I get a desktop. Thanks for sharing and you have a nice day...

I use laptop more often and I prefer it because of the following reasons:
1/ I can bring it with me for the travels.
2/ It consums less electricity than desktop for the same manipulation in general. When the current is cut off, I can do nothing with a desktop, but I still have time( about 3 hours) to save the sessions (it's important) before the laptop is turned off.
3/ If the internet is broken down, I can use my laptop to detect free nearby wifi. If I use desktop, I have to plug in a device to do that.
In fact I only use desktop for specific aims, for instance, when I have to run a big program that the ram of my laptop is not enough, then I'll work on the terminal connected to a big server which is a desktop.

Hi coldmoon..
You was talking about the electricty thing on laptop, I have a question for you. My battery on my laptop will only fun for about an hour at a time. I have been told that you have to train the battery to last longer. I have done and still just an hour. Do you know why? Thanks for sharing...

That is how I would love to be. I would like to have the choose of which one I would want to use. I have my laptop set up like a desktop with the mouse attached. I still prefer to have a desktop. Maybe soon I can get us a place to where I will have the room for a desktop..Thanks for sharing and have a nice day...

Hey,
I actually only have a laptop, so I use a laptop every single day of my life. But I also use a desktop computer only if I somehow can't access my laptop, I just use my brothers desktop computer, but that is rarely ever. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Hi ElitUser
Thank You for your comments. You too have a great day. Like I was saying in my discussion I only have the laptop to use. I do prefer a desktop, but at this time I don't have a choice but to use the laptop.

I don't have desktop so technically i am using my laptop. If i were to choose between the two, i would choose laptop. Why? Because i do travel a lot. Not specifically out of the country but i don't most of the time stay in one place. My work requires me to go from one place to another so laptop which is convenient is my thing.

Oh yes I can see where that would be a necessary for your line of work. When I first bought my laptop it was for traveling too. My husband worked out of town all the time. I would go visit and take the laptop with me. I couldn't handle not having access to the internet for days on end...Thansk for sharing and have a nice day..

Thanks as well..It is difficult if you don't have access to the internet especially if your line of work requires you to have one. It is imperative really for me to go online because i can't make my own plans --.
Desktop is really good for family use especially for kids at home. Unlike laptop, kids can't carry the desktop so they cannot sneak it out and watch unrelated or dangerous sites somewhere especially if you have wireless connection. It would limit their access of dangerous sites because eyes are everywhere if desktop is in the living room where people come and go.

For me,I have both of them now.I use laptop to see movies,to chat,to play games in my leisure time. But when I work, I will choose to use desktop since I should process some data and I think desktop has better performance to do that kind of task. I love both of them.

I have to agree with you that the desktop does have more to offer. Also I feel that working at a desktop is some what more comfortable. Well it is for me. I normally just sit at the kitchen table with my laptop. Have a nice day..

I can see where that is a convenice. I just never did do anything with my laptop unless I went out of town to visit with my hubby. I have to use the laptop now because we have to live in the camper. When I am able to get a house then I want to go back to the desktop. Thanks for sharing..

desktop and laptop, both of them have themselves weak and strong poins
- desktop : cheap, strong, long warranty ( 3 years ), able to update (chip, ram, main, ODD, HDD, VGA...), suitable for playing games, .... But the desktop is quite big, it is difficult to move.
- laptop : expensive, not strong, short warranty ( 1 year ), difficult to update (especially, VGA , because it is onboard). But it is light (1.5 - 2.4 kg) and easy to move.
For me, I prefer to use desktop because I usually play games, and... have a little money to buy laptop

I have both a desktop computer and a laptop computer that belong to me. My husband has the same setup as well. We both use our desktop computers almost all the time. We reserve our laptops for when we are traveling. We wouldn't have even ever invested in laptops had they not fallen into our laps. You see, my husband tinkers with computers on the side and both of the laptops that we have came from that hobby. The first one that we got needed a new hard drive because of that the owner sold it to us for 75 dollars. The second one needed (I can't remember what) but it ended up being given to my husband and he fixed it for our personal use.
We've used them very seldom, but they are handy to have. We took one of them to Arizona with us the last time that we flew and last year when we went to Columbus for his work, we took both of them with us. That way he had one for his class and I had one at the hotel to get directions to get to the places that I needed to go while he was in class.
I suppose when it is all said and done, the reason that I prefer my desktop given the choice is because it is more ergonomically comfortable for me.

Hi dorannmwin
That is right the laptop is made to be more mobile. I used mine for the same reasons. Hubby would have to work out of town for weeks. When I went to visit and having to sit in the motel all day I needed something to do, so I purchased a laptop. When he got laid off first of the year we moved into our camper. Now it is only laptop city here..Thanks for sharing and have a nice day..

I used the desktop more. It is more convenient. I have everything in all my drives. Some images are located in my external drives. If I used the laptop, there is little resources to draw from unless I prepare all the images and information files in advance to a pen-drive.

If I had the room for a desktop that would be my choice. The laptop would be stored in its case and waiting on the trips that I might have to take. But for now it gets all the attention. Soon I hope that we can get a house and I can store away the laptop..Thanks for sharing.

i use a laptop more often for the sole reason that i own a laptop and nothing else. i'd love to get a desktop though for the larger nicer lcd screens and so that i can play games easier with a seperate mouse and keyboard. I know they have mouses for laptops but they need batteries and stuff. also you get a better computer for lower prices with a desktop.

That is what I think too. I would much rather use a desktop all the time. Don't get me wrong laptop has been very helpful for me and I am thinkful that I have one right now. If not then I would be able to be on here. That would be too sad..You have a nice day and thanks for sharing...
