why is it that each time when i go to school, i ride into a public transportation, some people's faces are turned to be a long face, a sad face, an angry face and a moody face. i keep on laughing with myself on that seeing them with that kind of reaction and faces hehe! why not smile? why not be happy why not show the joyful face instead of the angry one? i hope the world would realize this one. they should smile each day, they should be happy always because sadness does not make our day happy ^_^V

There are number of bad things happening arround the world and people are suffering from them. but still i would say every body must try to find out the time to have a smile.
Atleast when some one facing any problem or in trouble for a long time. the person must try to smile so that the bad time could be faced.

I use to have this problem. I use to never smile and I didnt even realize the effects it had on the people around me until one day a girl at work told me a lot of people think I'm stuck up and mean because I do not smile. So from that day on I have been smiling and I have to say it has helped a lot. I think a lot of people love to see a happier person. It makes you more approachable and friendly. So now I smile all the time. One guy once told me You know what I love about you? Your always smiling.

that is what i want to hear. everyone must be a positive thinker. don't take problems too seriously. being sad always wont solve any problems easier. :). i agree on you because i once encounter sadness in my life, and i realized that sadness did not help my life. :)

You mean me , right ? Ha ha ! Yes, some people rarely smile. I suppose that's not they don't want to, but rather they are under stress or thinking about things deeply. Yeah, ofcourse, it would be necessary to relax and smile some times. I like to thank you for this posting. This is a nice reminder to all of us I would say, including me ofcourse ! Ha ha ! I am smiling now !

I have noticed that, too. A lot of people just don't seem happy. Well, a lot of people aren't happy these days and sometimes it just gets too hard to smile, especially when there are many negative things going on in your life.
I choose to be happy. I almost always have a smile on my face. Oh, sometimes life gets to be a bit too much for me and I give in to depression or anger but that is rare. Normally, I'm a happy person.
A long time ago I realized that I had a choice, and I chose to be happy. Life is an adventure, even when things are going badly. I learned that it is not what life throws at us that matters, it's how we handle it that matters.
I honestly believe that anyone can accomplish so much more if they just chose to be happy.
I once had my car break down when I was 180 miles from home. It blew a piston on an interstate highway. I pulled over immediately, as did two other drivers. They rushed over to me and asked if I knew that my car was on fire. Well, I jumped right out of my car and saw that the fire was out. These nice people stayed with me until someone from the highway commission stopped to help. He called a tow truck for me and let me wait in his truck while the tow truck came. Then, the tow truck driver dropped me off at a motel and told me where he would be taking my car.
My attitude throughout this whole ordeal was a happy one. I figured that nothing would be accomplished if I was unhappy or angry, so I chose to be happy. I had an excellent adventure! I got to meet some very nice people, stay overnight in a town I had never heard of before and ate some food I had never tried before.
The thing is, the situation would be the same whether I was happy or unhappy. So, I chose to be happy. Everyone I met was astonished by my attitude and I was able to make them smile, too.
So, not only does a happy attitude make you feel better, but it can also make others feel better, too.
Smiles are contagious!

Hi: I too wonder about that uchihaseymour (what a mouthfull) There are some people you meet daily on the train, bus, walking, but they have such a glum look on their faces that I'm scared to smile at them. It really makes your day when someone even unknown to you gives you a smile or a word of thanks or something like that. I guess those people are by nature gloomy people, who carry the world on their shoulder and thinks that the rest of the world owe them something or other. If they don't want to be happy, and if they dont want to give out happiness, that's their loss, if after once, they snub you or ignore, just forget about them and move on. there are millions of people who'd love to give you a smile or smile back at you in friendliness or simply for no matter but because its a lovely day and the world is a lovely place (in spite of all the terrible things that happen).

sorry for my name suesan (i thought it can be changed o_O), but thanks for the reply, yes, sometimes i feel scared of some people, they might release their anger to me if i smiled to them, they might reply with a negative connotation XD and yes, that's their loss actually, if they'll continue to be sad? then their life would be sad and gloomy always. but i am worried to them i hope sadness wont create hatred and pain. hehe :)

I guess you are either a very young person , or a very lucky one to have so many reasons to always be happy :) ...But maybe you will realize that life isnt always butterflies and flowers :) Sometimes its bad , and when you have to wake up every day for work , early , when your boss is annoying u all the time , when you have problems at home and constant worries how to get money for dinner or to pay your bills... it does tend to get harder and harder to smile :) ...And as you grow , more serious problems appear... until one day you just dont feel like smiling for no good reason :) ... and sometimes , just being tired can make you all sad looking and stuff =3

Because they do not have any reasons to smile? What, will you tell me that you'd smile when going through a bad period in your life just to raise the general social mood with strangers? If you answer yes, you must take me for a fool if you think I'm to believe in it.

Well friend only very few people who come out of their house with good smile. It is due to work pressure or bad arguements started in the home or some do not like to smile when they are in bus. They are unlimited reasons why people do not smile. I too find only some people who are joyful and cheerful. But I like to see such cheerful people around me always..

My Guru has said " Be a smile millionaire". He never liked anybody with a long face or a sad face around him.Smile, and the world smiles with you.Weep and you weep alone, goes the saying.A smiling person sends out positive vibrations which attract people towards him/her whereas a morose face sends out negative vibrations and everybody avoids the company of such persons. A smiling face is infectious and puts everyone in a good mood but a sad face puts off people because their mood also becomes bad. So we should always keep smiling even if things go bad because every dark cloud has a silver lining and soon the sun will peep out and make things better for us.So keep smiling always and drive the blues away from yourself and your near and dear ones.

You know, people have different perspective in life. Some people have their own moods.Other people can deal their life with ease. So,no one can judge someone by how she's portraying herself to the world. If one can't give smile, maybe she has a lot of things that preoccupied her mind,in that she forgot to realize her face's reaction is sad or not joyful.I'm also like that, always serious looking, not even to smile at once, but I'm not angry, that's my personality.I'm not contradicting you but only giving my humble opinion.Peace!

Hello Uchihaseymour,
My guess would be that a lot of people are having problems and they keep dweling on their problems instead of turning their day around by counting their blessings and smile. Instead, they choose to be misserable with sad looking faces. If you think about it, we all have problems. But we have to learn to stay positive and try to make the best out of it, no matter what. A lot of people don't realize how much effect a little smile or a simple compliment to someone makes. It could make someone's day!
Happy MyLotting my friend. Keep on smiling and be blessed, always!

someone tell me that you should smile in the front of the mirror every day, when you get up, which is the best way that can keep you good mood in the whole day.
maybe for me it is not the best way, but i will try to do every day, because i found that good mood is the improtant to work.
someone don't smile, which don't show that they are not happy;
different people have different ways that express the happiness, don't all smile.

I am the contrary - always smiling because I have that "sunny" disposition. I smile at strangers and some take it as a come on which is sometimes annoying. Others think that I am laughing at them and ask what I am smiling about. It is just in my nature to smile. My mother always think it is a "happy go lucky" attitude and tells me to be serious. I cannot put on a serious face for a long time. I have to smile and laugh (a lot). Of course there are times when there is nothing to smile or laugh about. But in my entire life, I have smiled more often than put on a sour face.

This reminds me of one of the things that I am always saying to my boyfriend when we are on vacation. We look around a crowded restaurant, or a busy amusement park, and it seems like we are the only people smiling. I cannot understand why there aren't more people enjoying life. Especially these people, because they are most likely on vacation. If you are going to spend that much money to take a vacation, then you need to learn to enjoy yourself while you are there! LOL
I was actually on a vacation with a friend of mine back in July and she was just like these people who weren't smiling. She was worried about work and such. One day, I even took 3 of the kids on my own and we had an excellent time. I guess some people are just taught to worry while others are raised more to enjoy life.
Congratulations to you on being one of the lucky ones! I hope that you will continue to be happy in spite of everyone else. Don't let others ever get you down.
Have a great day here on myLot!

I notice it most of the time in my place. There are times people who know me will not give a smile.I too keep laughing when i see people very tensed or they are sad all the time.It all depends on a persons mood also.If he tensed it is obvious he will not smile at us but when he is happy he will smile and speak to us very nicely.People with weak minds will not be able to forget the scene but people will strong minds will forget it and carry on with their work.

Absolutely correct uchihaseymour, and i wonder why
they dont smile.I have this friend she's 88yrs old now
everytime she went out, right from her main door she
already start to smile till she go back home. For i
think she want to look pleasant to these people who she will meet outside.
Having your smile all the
time can take away some sadness in your heart and be in
peace of mind right?Smile is the first medicine to our
health too.happy posting my friend.

hello ginny thanks for the reply :) that's good to hear, smiling really makes each day beautiful :). i don't know why some people out there would not smile. they just put their words togather and said what they want to said on which on their part, they have made a similar idea "if i smile without no reason, they might say im a crazy person" well who cares by the way? it's none of their business, but for me, at least i have made my day beautiful unlike for you, you'll just make your life meaningless :D thanks for the reply again ginny, im just so worried to those people who do not know the simplicity of happiness :) poor them :D

Well my first response would be because it's a lot of work to put on a fake smile. It really does get to be exhausting. Everyone comes from a different walk of life. Maybe the ones not smiling comes from a walk that has given them nothing to smile about. Hard to think about but it happens.

Maybe because they dont feel like happy. How can you have a joyful face if deep inside you're not? I don't think its possible cause what you feel inside manifested in your face. Its easy to say I will be happy but you cannot fake your feelings. You might try to pretend but others will see still whats inside you.

We react according to our feelings. It also depends on how people handle situations. Some people easily shift their moods from sad to happy, from depressed to inspired...
