I just arrived home from my first trip to the Philippines on Monday. It was a very unique country, unlike any place that I have ever visited before.
I only got to visit Manila, Angeles City, and the Clark Air Force Base. The Clark Air Force Base was very beautiful. We had a buffet breakfast there one day, and it had everything from fresh squeezed watermelon juice to fresh made Filipino cuisine.
There was a number of different foods that I saw while I was there, that are unique to the country, like balut. I also was able to visit the meat market one day. Or should I say one morning, since you had to be there at 2:00 am to get the freshest meats.
It was an experience that I will never forget!

thanks kykidd for visiting the philippines and I'm happy that you've enjoyed your stay in Manila and Angeles City. Did you try balut? it was featured in many show in Discovery Channel Travel and Living. and you are right if you want to get the freshest meats you have to be in the market as early as 2:00 am. I hope you will come back!!!

Hello Tulog. Certainly, people and places in the Philippines are world class. I have been to the Philippines once. Very impressed. I was only in Manila. Didn't have the chance to visit so many other beautiful places and islands. Oh, yeah ! The people are very nice, very friendly ! I hope I will have another opportunity to come ! I would love to go to the beautiful beaches too !

It's a pity that I've never been to Philippines before. But many friends who visited there said the sceneries are very beautiful. So I'm quite interested in enjoying my vacations there in the future. Maybe you could recommend me some places worth visiting. By the way, do you think it's necessary to join a tourist group for the first time? I could speak some English which is enough for daily communication. Would I be in trouble if I visit there by myself?

there are a lot of places here that you'll definitely love to see. as I've mentioned in my earlier post we have a lot of beautiful beaches to offer. if you want to see the scenic view of the countryside you can visit sagada in the mountain province or baguio.
in my travels I always saw and meet backpackers from different countries i guess its ok to travel alone, if you are the adventurous type. or as what you've said you can join in the tourist group.

That's true uchihaseymour i have been to cebu and really enjoyed my stay there. 5 days is not enough. there are a lot of beautiful places to see and activities to do. I was awed by the beauty of Malapascua Island, it has sugary fine white sand and turquoise blue water. you can snorkel all day and even dive because its one of the most frequently visited by divers who are looking for thresher sharks.
