Has something like this ever happened to you? I was working away on Mylot the other night, when hubby brought me a plate of food. Seeing that I was still finishing a sentence, he put the plate on the arm of the couch. My cat decided to fly up onto the couch under the plate, flipping it over. I got Asian dumplings and soy sauce all over my freaking laptop keyboard, and the damn thing hasn't worked right since!!! I took it to the computer store today, and he said it was better to just get a new keyboard, so that is what we are oing. Anyone's cat ever destroyed a part of your computer?

No my kitty has been well behaved around the computer. He doesn't go near it. My dog on the other hand might do something like knock a beverage onto the computer. That hasn't happened either though. I just hope that it doesnt happen anytime soon. I don't want to clan up my laptop. I just went through having to have it repaired.

I know. This isn't my first repair either. The other one wasn't so easy, as it was a problem with the motherboard, affecting the computer's ability to hold an electrical charge. Very very annoying, and two weeks away from home for my computer. I really hated having to send it away.

No, but they try, they try. Mostly they just walk on things, the keyboard, the mouse. They especially love turning the printer on. At 3 am...

no,but one of my previous cats destroyed my bro's VCR. threw up right in the vents on top of it. ..i did warn him to cover it at night.. this was in the days where VCR's were about $700,so needless to say he was mad at me and the cat.

My cats have not yet done irreparable damage to my laptop because I keep them right away from it but in the office we have an old desktop which my daughter uses and one of our cats has the habit of sleeping on top of the keyboard or, if she’s cold, on top of the modem so, aside from fur going everywhere which is bound not to do the PC much good if the machine is one you sometimes hear a strange tapping sound and it is usually the cat leaning on the keyboard and pressing the one key constantly!

Yes I had few days ago but only technical problem unlike what had happened with yours. I only have to reformat because it was attacked by virus. I think yours was easier that mine, you only look for it in a computer shop while mine needs too much focusing...have you found what you're looking for? Happy mylotting...

My cats are outdoors cats so they don't come near the computer. But my cats wreak a lot of havoc in the garden. My kitten Tornado is fighting unseen enemies in my pine tree and other potted plants.

I certainly feel painful - for you and laptop. If I remember correctly, the laptop is new, isn't it? You are lucky the notebook did not blow off. Many years ago, a customer toppled a cup of coffee over the counter top and immediately blew off a computer. My boss was furious and ordered no drinks on the counter. We happen to be in the retail business.

It wasn't my computer but my cell phone. I have put the sound of cats meowing as my ring tone in my cell phone and while I was taking my shower my phone rang while it was charging, when my cat heard the voice of another cat from my ringing phone she quickly jumped to the direction where the sound come from. In the process she tripped on the charger wire which send my phone flying to the floor. The impact smashed opened the casing and all components were strewn all over the place. It was the final end to my cell phone but a blessing disguise as I end up getting the latest model of the same brand.

i don't let the cat into my house. they just stay outside the house. i just feed them when they are hungry. but they are not allowed to stay or sneak inside. cause i know cats can bring disaster. the cat destroyed my sofa set by scratching his claws in my sofa. so my sofa has lots of scratches. luckily it was not torn open. but still the scratches are visible and noticeable. so after that. no cats are allowed to stay that long. they get out as soon as they got in.

Oh, yes.....My cat Basil loves to chew thin wires, and I still haven't been able to break him of the habit. He chewed through about 3 phones wires coming out of my computer modem. He even got shocked once chewing on a tv wire. I have to keep a package of phone wire on hand in case he decides to destroy another one! I even tried the no chew spray, he loved it!! Ah well, what can we do? We love our cats and our computers, lol!

My cats are like that too. If there is food near the computer thay are there wanting to help themselves. So far, no major CATastrophes. I had one where he locked up my keyboard by walking on the perfect combination of keys and I couldn't figure out why it was typing in another language or something. Of course, my son just looked at it and did something and voila! it worked again. The other night the cat somehow unplugged the mouse and ran out of the room with it. He likes chewing on electrical cords. He has destroyed one phone charger, numerous earbud sets, and the air conditioner to my house. How he new which wire to chew on without killing himself is beyond me.

When I lived in my parent's house we never owned pets because they couldn't stand the odor or responsibility. Try taking the key board apart and leaving the parts out to dry. A friend of mine once inadvertently left computer hardware in the rain, but actually managed to resolve the problem by taking it apart and leaving the interior out to dry. My current apartment has a cat and a dog (to my disdain) and I am not sure if I would have take in it so well if that had happened with my roommates pet...

don't even start with that! happily it was on a pc and not a laptop, but the roomie has had cats do all KINDS of things to her keyboards - the last one was dump a Blizzard (a Diary Queen ice cream treat) all over it, and once one peed in it... that's why I keep them OUT of my space and we keep her's inside the desk where the cat's can't do rude things to the tower...

Ooooo, I don't like cats so I would be toss that feline out the window, I'm evil like that. I'm not an animal person anyway, I have kids who spill enough for me so an animal wouldn't last one minute in my house.
