I have an indoor fern that I have had about a year. The leaves are turning brown. I think it has adequate water the soil seems moist, but I want to stop it from dying. I have trimmed off the dead parts, but it is still turning brown. I was thinking about putting a dish under it to keep the water from leaking out, but I am not sure what to do. I need to save my plant. I think it is tropical fern of some sort. It is humid here so I don't think lack of humidity is a problem. What do I do??

Sure wish I could help but ferns is something I have no luck with at all. Have you tried looking online for some suggestions?

Hope you can find an answer. I had one that did the same thing and to this day I thought I was taking care of it right. Misted it every other day and the whole nine yards. I even had it in indirect sunlight. The only other thing I can think to suggest is to call a nursery since they probably sell ferns and have to keep them nice.

Yeah, that sounds like a possiblity. I would hate to lose this thing. I'm going to try the pebble tray thing, and look online.

I tend to kill things by over watering them, also, are you sure it is getting enough light?

are you letting it get dry between waterings? Really, that does drown them

It is located just infront of the glass windows that lead to the deck. It gets plenty of sun, both direct and indirect. I would think it's location would be a great place for it. I'm looking at one of it's little leaves turning brown right now. It's making me sad.

Snowy, Sounds like your fern is being over watered. . Try putting the fern on a tray of pebbles and water the pebbles. That way the plant will take what it needs. Also dont mist her for this can be what is the causing the brown spots. The water will evaporate, providing the fern with the proper humidity. Hope this helps
