I think cats have alot more than nine lives as my cat has nearly been killed 100 times at least by cars going backwards and forwards accross the road.I know its only a saying but it should be alot higher then nine lives dont you think?

Maybe it's an Averaging out thing..My Cat unfortunately used up all of his a couple of months back at about 6 1/2 Years,so He's no longer with Me,but while He was,he'd survived poisoning at different times (The Vet reckoned it was with slug poison that some local Gardener had left out)..At the end he developed a tumour and there was nothing I could do for Him.. His photo's on my profile..

No, i dont think cats have nine lives,I believe God have given us only one life and same to that of the animals too. So, one life and thats it for everyone.

Well....I don't think that saying really means that cats die 9 times before actually passing on forever. I just think people say "cats have 9 lives" because they are so good at getting out of things. They can bend, squeeze, jump well, twist, climb...they're very "equipped" animals. I don't think that saying is as literal as it sounds. :) But I'd be careful with that cat of yours! One day it's luck is going to run out and if there really are so many cars going by like that...it's dangerous for a cat to be outside.

Not necessarily nine 'lives' but they are agile and can spring back. They have a spirit that won't die or be messed with too. They are strong little critters. They do seem to keep coming back for more. But they don't actually have nine lives.

The reason I know why they say cats have 9 lives is because of superstitution, in ancient time 9 is a lucky number. Cats always survives fall in higher places that is why they are lucky. But it wasn't because they have 9 lives, but because of their body weight, and highly develop sense of balance, they always land on its feet.
