Dear mylotters, Do u read lots of books. I have seen that people who read lots of books are very good converser. These people can talk better on any subject and can be adjusted anywhere. I always tell my children to read and read more on anything. it not only improve your volculbary but also your power to talk better. These days because of computer and tv children are reduing their reading habit. This is very dangerous for their future. What do u think. Please share.

I am fond of reading too but I have noticed that I am better at writing than speaking. I'm really not that comfortable saying my ideas out loud. I guess my reading made me quite a recluse. But it does indeed sharpen the mind and shows a lot of new knowledge that otherwise I wouldn't have known. Reading is a joy and passion that I would like to pass on to my children someday.

Reading books and such is one of my favorite things to do. I've always loved to read, ever since i was a child. It's not something that I am ever really going to stop doing. And like you, I do think that reading can help improve your vocabulary and knowledge. I certainly think that reading books and such can be a valuable tool to have.

Reading can definitely open your eyes and mind to the things that are around us.
I think that being well-read and observant of things, and well-informed does make a person better at conversations because he knows alot about a lot of things.
But as satan may have pointed out, that may also be not the case. Some persons though very knowleadgeble might not be a good speaker/conversationalist. That needs a certain amount of charm.

i do read lots of books. you are right about books that they improve our vocabulary and knowledge, but improvement in power to talk better maybe just depends on some people. it is really an advantage to know a lot. we could talk better on any subject, just like what you said.

i'm an avid reader but i am by far the worst conversationist of all time i don't think reading has any contribution to speaking power. i think that comes from social interactions in reality not in discussion forums or instant messaging services.
