IBM and Coke managed to make consumers believe they did not compromise quality even in poor economic times. They continued to give good value for the money. There was no perception of cost cutting and passing it on to the consumers. They rolled out new products and applied for new patents. This inspired confidence in the buying public. They looked like winners.
