chatting in mylot

I always wonder how some people can have over a thousand posts when I have been here for years and haven't reached halfway yet. Only now did I found out that many of their posts are chat messages one to another. I was about to suggest mylot to have a chatroom but on second thought, chatroom discussions will not be earning money. Chatting usually deviates from the actual topic of discussion, posts without substance, and makes multiple posts on the same subject, thus violating a number of mylot discussion guidelines.

I comment a lot backwards and forwards on the same response on many discussions but it does not alter my post count.
That number increases only for:
- the FIRST response on a discussion started by others
- the FIRST comment on a discussion started by others
and all following responses and comments do not cause an increase ever.
It also increase when you start a new discussion which recieves either 2 responses or 1 response + 1 comment.

After a user reaches 100 they can then rate other users for a maximum of 11 times for each user a day. Therefore whether they rate a discussion by the user or responses or comments, they are soon going to run out of rating boxes anyway - so does that answer your query? Those that 'chat' or comment a lot are not going to get more ratings than others who don't becuase the maximum number is the same for one and all.

You know what? Responding to people's post is like chatting. You respond to people's post and then they respond back to your comment. As long as your chatting about the topic, it's ok.

That's it!
Call it what you like but it all boils down to the same thing.
Discussing, chatting, debating, gossiping
(oh do we gossip too? )

Chatting would be a good way to increase your post. I have seen a lot of that kind of posts but I don't think that they would deviate from the topic and without substance. I have read a few of them and it's most interesting to see the sharing of ideas and mostly it becomes interactive.

I do agree with you that a chatting forum should be created in mylot and not only for extra money making but mylot should also join other websites that is operating a free chatting program for people to make more friends and have fun, i do believe that mylot will work towards that

That's weird as I've never really noticed any discussions as being considered as "chats"--I've been here for three years also, yet none of my discussions could be considered as "chats" and are topics of interest that I wish to share with people, such as news items. Do you MyLot everyday? That is the key to being active here and gaining a lot of posts, not only by starting discussions, but replying to them

2timothy,
I just feel that there will always be some individuals here that will try to tempt the law and patience of the admin here.
Like always, they do get away with "murder" for much of it. I just cannot believe them commenting here. I think the term "chat" to be understated when they are actually posting "one liner responses" in the first place.
Not forgetting some brash blatant declaration that their post is actually an infringement of the TOS of myLot here. Guess whether that is really genuine for the members or the admin?
Anyway, it is really up to them and if they want to do it fine. As they say, do the crime then do the time. I am sure there will dues.

hi 2timothy yes there are quite a few and itsa wonder as they'do
break the rules. we are not supposed to do that as p ersonal messages'are for that chatting stuff. our discussions are meant'
to be for all mylotters to respond to if they choose to do'so'not for one or two priveledged p eople.

well, i think we referred it as commenting or barging in to other comments of other users. thus, those who are close to each other are the ones in good condition to chat around. well, you tell that to oldies and see what they can say to you. some does chat around a topic...

Hi 2timothy, I didnt know that multiple posts on the same subject amounted to violation of mylot discussion guidelines! I joined less than 2 months ago, and I found the way people discuss the topics is virtually like sitting together in some coffee shop or better still in the class room when the teacher has suddenly decided to take off, and no substitute could be found in time. . And so I have been replying and enjoying doing that! How many years have you been around? Well, most of the topics are such that people can only write generally, and since these are informal discussions, I dont know if guidelines as u mentioned apply to all situations. :) Have a nice day. :)

WE should distinguish the guidelines, some of the guidelines serve as guides to be able to have earnings, others serve as rules and warnings and would count as violations with corresponding reprisals. Maybe this would put everything in perspective.

When you see a member has thousands of post you should look at their profile to see how long they have been a member of the site. I have been here for a month and have done over 230 posts now. I don't think that is too little or too many for the time I have been here. It's just about what discussions interest you to how much you post and also how busy the discussion is.
